Winemaker Notes

Taittinger produces a vintage champagne only when the harvest has been of such outstanding quality that it deserves to be fully vinified. The wine is then only sent to market after several years of ageing in the cellars, allowing the aromas to mature slowly and the length and complexity of the wine to develop.

1999 Taittinger Brut Millésimé is a classic blend of 50% Chardonnay and 50% Pinot Noir. Produced from a single vintage, this elegant Champagne is characterized by full fruit flavors with nuances of toast and yeast balanced by refined Chardonnay elegance. The Chardonnay grapes are mostly from the grands crus of the Côte des Blancs and the Pinot Noir grapes are from the crus of the Montagne de Reims and the Vallée de la Marne but also from the first crus of the Epernay region.

The exclusive use of juices from the first pressing and optimum ageing in cellars provide this champagne with a superior finesse, elegance and subtlety.

Champagne Taittinger Winery Video

Champagne Taittinger was established in 1931 by Pierre Taittinger on the foundations of Forest-Forneaux, itself established in 1734 and the third-oldest wine producing house of Champagne. Taittinger is today proprietor of approximately 600 acres of vines among which are included parcels in the one hundred - percent rated villages of Cramant and Avize in the Cote des Blancs; and Bouzy, Mailly, Ambonnay and Verzenay in the Montagne de Reims. The Taittinger Estate is one of the three most extensive in the Champagne district, and the firm's major holdings in Chardonnay vineyards are the physical expression of the Taittinger philosophy and style.
