Winemaker Notes
I am really enjoying the wines from the 2010 growing season. Itwas an incredibly cool season (the coolest we had everexperienced until 2011 came along!). This allowed for somegreat hang time, which leads to great flavor and tannindevelopment. October and November were ideal, dry and nottoo chilly, amazingly, everything ripened beautifully. (I was verypanicked we would get an October storm like we did in 2009.) Inthe end, we were able to bring in some incredibly complex butintense fruit that was a pleasure to work with in the cellar.Speaking of the cellar, in 2010 we purchased a whole slew ofconcrete fermentors and were extremely happy with how wellthey turned our fruit into wine. I am sold on concrete as afermentation vessel. The concrete definitely helped in softeningup the prodigious tannins of 2010 and allowed us to keep thewines fresher and more focused. It is a lovely combination.
Blend: 89% Syrah, 11% Roussanne

Built to cellar, this is intensely peppery, rich and vibrant, with dark berry, roasted herb and espresso. Gains depth and persistence through to the finish, revealing subtle flavor nuances that touch on tobacco, road tar and licorice. Best from 2014 through 2026. 200 cases made.
