    Saladini Pilastri, Italy

The property and family are part of the local history of Ascolani Piceno dating back 1,000 years. The estate was originally granted by the Pope to the family for their help during the crusades. The ancestors of the noble Saladini Pilastri family were priests and leaders throughout Italy.

Wine production began on the estate three hundred years ago. Saladini Pilastri combines historical local tradition with modern technology. 320 hectares of rich limestone soil on hillside Vineyards are located in Monteprandone and Spinetoli located in the Rosso Piceno and Falerio DOC zones. 120 hectares are set aside for the best wines; all are organically farmed.

Saladini Pilastri is a Certified Organic winery. The winery was certified in 2008 and is recognized by the National Oranic Program in the United States.

Stretching along Italy’s eastern coast with neighbors, Umbria to its west and Abruzzo to its south, Marche is a region with a varying climate from north to south. Its coastal plains roll into hills that become the Apennine Mountains, which run the length of the country. The Marche's best red wines come from the grapes, Montepulciano and Sangiovese; the local Verdicchio makes refreshing, crisp and light whites.
