The Oliver Conti dream started In 1991, a dream with a glow. A dream made of tramontana wind and hope. We choose the Emporda region because the soils and climate could give us the fruits we desired. On the slopes of the Alberes mountain range, granitic soils poor in organic life, we planted 15 hectares of vines with the varietals that would allow us to produce high quality, fruity and elegant wines. As time went by, our dream has become a reality and the Emporda region has developed as a coveted appellation, desired for the undeniable quality of its wines.

André Crespy, Professor and Doctor in Agronomy at Montpellier University, helped us during the first years with his obssesion to obtain the highest quality grapes. Later Pepe Hidalgo, Agronomist Enginyer and Ana Martin, Oenologist, helped us to reach the highest level of quality in the wine making process.

Working so accurately our vineyards has always gone together with two obsessions: aromas and elegance. Discovering that aromas can give us so much satisfaction, made us work harder to keep them all along the process of harvesting, fermentation and aging. As a result, when opening a bottle of Oliver Conti, the agreable and fulilling sensations help to enjoy such extraordinary wines.

Spanish red wine is known for being bold, heady, rustic and age-worthy, Spain is truly a one-of-a-kind wine-producing nation. A great majority of the country is hot, arid and drought-ridden, and since irrigation has only been recently introduced and (controversially) accepted, viticulture has sustained—and flourished—only through a great understanding of Spain’s particular conditions. Large spacing between vines allows each enough resources to survive and as a result, the country has the most acreage under vine compared to any other country, but is usually third in production.

Of the Spanish red wines, the most planted and respected grape variety is Tempranillo, the star of Spain’s Rioja and Ribera del Duero regions. Priorat specializes in bold red blends, Jumilla has gained global recognition for its single varietal Monastrell and Utiel-Requena has garnered recent attention for its reds made of Bobal.
