    Winemaker Notes

All of our wines are made to be indulged in now. Why drink tomorrow when you can drink today? Better yet, why not drink tomorrow and today? Life is short. Forget the heavy oak and butter — we want to be able to taste rockin’ fruit! Our Chardonnay is bright and refreshing with yellow apples, fresh pineapple, lemon zest and tropical fruits.

    Lost Angel, California
Naughty wines for naughty times. You spent the last eight hours in a tiny cubical shackled to an obsolete computer writing reports intended to justify your existence. Your boss calls you competent. Your co-workers call you pleasant. You’ve reached a crossroad in your life. You can either continue to wear that “kick me” sign taped to your back or you can rub on those fake tattoos, mount that vintage Harley and join the Lost Angel revolution. Lost Angel’s wines are for people who appreciate bold, edgy and iconoclastic. They are as different and exciting as you’d like to be. As the old saying goes, if you only live once, make it count. If you live more than once, then who the hell cares?

California’s most praised white wine, Chardonnay is also the state’s most planted white grape variety. Diverse terrain and microclimates allow for an incredible range of wine styles.

Chardonnay planted in the cooler, coastal zones takes on bright characteristics like lemon zest, key lime, green apple and wet flint. For this style, look to the chilly Sonoma Coast, Carneros, Santa Cruz Mountains, Santa Lucia Highlands and Edna Valley.

The inland zones of California’s coast, such as the Russian River, Sonoma, Napa and Livermore Valleys maintain a more Goldilocks-esque climate where both styles go. Early picking retains acidity and creates a leaner style but leaving the grapes to hang creates an approachable Chardonnay, balancing richness and finesse.

Chardonnay also plays a major part in the sparkling wine production of the Anderson Valley and Carneros.
