Winemaker Notes
Dina's Vineyard Zinfandel is big, dark and mouth filling with deep blackberry, cassis, boysenberry, coffee, mineral and dark chocolate flavors complemented by exotic spice, bluberry and orage blossom aromas. Dina's Zinfandel possesses a dense, multi-layered texture and an extremely long finish. Bottled unfined and unfiltered, 204 cases.
Dina's Vineyard was planted by the Arata family more than 90 years ago. Today only about 5 acres of gnarled, dry-farmed vines remain.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2000 Hartford Zinfandel Dina's Vineyard's opaque inky/purple color looks more like Petite Sirah than Zinfandel. These 95-year old vines produced 250 cases of a 15.8% alcohol wine with gorgeously pure blackberry and raspberry fruit intermixed with graphite, pepper, and earth. It is full-bodied, with great purity and a liquid minerality underlying all the fruit. This is prodigious stuff.

Making delicious wines of high personality is directly related to the difficult locations of the Hartford family's vineyard sources, the limited production of their bottlings and the varietals they use. "Character through adversity" is an expression that the Hartford family believes to apply to both people and grapevines, and they feel that surviving adversity builds character, and personality, in both. The Hartford Family makes wines under two marks, Hartford Court and Hartford.
