Winemaker Notes
The pinnacle of our portfolio, Ten Degrees showcases the depth and diversity of our three Anderson Valley estate vineyards. Both opulent and impeccably balanced, it combines the age-worthy structure and lush blueberry and blackberry flavors of Gowan Creek Vineyard with the vibrant strawberry and black cherry elements of Confluence Vineyard. Throughout it all, notes of truffles and earthy minerality from The Narrows Vineyard add depth and complexity, while carrying the wine to a long, sophisticated finish.

This wine is big and bold, blending powerful structure with warm redand black-fruit flavors that fill it out. Raspberries and black cherries are shaded by strawberry and cinnamon in both the aromas and flavors, while moderate tannins and supple acidity balance everything out beautifully. Best through 2026.

COMMENTARY: The 2016 Goldeneye Ten Degrees Pinot Noir is an exceptional wine. TASTING NOTES: This is a complete wine from start to finish. Pair its aromas and flavors of black fruits, oak accents, and savory spices with dried-rubbed, roast chicken. (Tasted: April 20, 2019, San Francisco, CA)

The most expensive in the lineup, the 2016 Pinot Noir Ten Degrees has a deeper color as well as a rich, nicely structured, concentrates style. Black cherries, scorched earth, graphite, and a touch of forest floor all give way to a medium to full-bodied Pinot Noir that has terrific mid-palate density, building tannin, and outstanding length. It’s going to evolve gracefully for 8-10 years.

Wine & Spirits
This is a blend of the top lots from Goldeneye’s three estate vineyards in Anderson Valley, located along Route 128 from Confluence in Philo to the Narrows, deeper into the western end of the valley toward Navarro. It’s concentrated, cushioned, gentle and harmonious, lasting on warm white-pepper spice, dark cherries and autumn leaves. The influence of its time in oak is still apparent, though those wood tones will meld with bottle age, or in the company of filet mignon.

In 1997, Goldeneye harvested its first grapes, a modest seven tons of estate fruit, yielding 375 cases of wine. After a decade of research, planning and experimentation, Goldeneye's inaugural vintage was announced in March of 2000. By focusing on the careful cultivation of its estate vineyards, Goldeneye has been able to grow, while still remaining true to its philosophy of being a small, quality-driven winery.
Founded on a commitment to quality, Goldeneye brings the tradition of viticultural excellence established by Duckhorn Vineyards in the Napa Valley to the Pinot Noirs of the Anderson Valley. With each new vintage, Goldeneye continues its evolution toward becoming one of the world's premier producers of Pinot Noir.
Anderson Valley, located in Mendocino County just above Sonoma County, is one of California’s coolest AVAs, allowing it a long growing season. Only 15 miles long, the region makes a slice eastward through the mountains, from the frigid Pacific Ocean. Dramatic diurnal temperature variations here preserve grape acidity and thus freshness in the finished wines. These are prime conditions for growing Pinot Noir, and the valley produces many fine versions. Characteristics of Anderson Valley Pinot Noir typically include crisp acidity, cranberry and strawberry notes as well as earthy notes of forest floor and mushroom.
Still Pinot Noir, however, is only part of the story. Pinot Noir, along with Chardonnay, are also grown for Anderson Valley’s exceptional sparkling wines. Produced via the traditional method, these offer a classic toasty note from lees aging, bright, complex fruit notes and a clean, refreshing character.
