Decanter
From fruit grown in Oakville’s eastern hills, this cuvée (which includes 25% Cabernet Franc) is tiny: in 2013 a mere 249 cases were produces, so it won’t be easy to find. A powerful, charming nose of tobacco and cassis, which flows onto a rich, well-structured palate with plenty of plum flavours. The finish is memorable and long, showing clearly that this is a very smart wine.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Gallica’s beautiful 2013 Cabernet Sauvignon has velvety tannins, loads of plum, blackberry and cassis fruit and a floral component. It has a medium to full-bodied personality that would suggest a suave complex wine from a Bordeaux or Margaux appellation. The wine is quite beautiful with purity, richness and an overall charm that make this an endearing effort in 2013. Moreover, it should drink well for another 20+ years.

James Suckling
This shows lots of shaved lead pencil and dark, purple fruits. Full body and chewy yet polished tannin texture. Needs time come together. Better in 2018.

Wine
Winemaker Rosemary Cakebread has earned her reputation for excellence quietly. With more than thirty vintages in Napa Valley, she is known for making distinct wines notable for restraint and elegance, with remarkable consistency across vintages. With a degree in Viticulture and Enology from the University of California Davis, she was introduced to Cabernet Sauvignon at the historic Inglenook Winery. A career composed of varied winemaking experiences, including sixteen years at Spottswoode Estate Vineyard and Winery, a harvest in Bordeaux, and earlier work in the world of sparkling wine round out her winemaking resume. Rosemary makes Cabernet Sauvignon, Grenache, and Syrah under the Gallica label. Located on two gravelly acres in St. Helena, California, Gallica organically farms Cabernet Sauvignon and Petite Sirah, farmed in collaboration with Mike Wolf.
A noble variety bestowed with both power and concentration, Cabernet Sauvignon enjoys success all over the globe, its best examples showing potential to age beautifully for decades. Cabernet Sauvignon flourishes in Bordeaux's Medoc where it is often blended with Merlot and smaller amounts of some combination of Cabernet Franc, Malbecand Petit Verdot. In the Napa Valley, ‘Cab’ is responsible for some of the world’s most prestigious, age-worthy and sought-after “cult” wines. Somm Secret—DNA profiling in 1997 revealed that Cabernet Sauvignon was born from a spontaneous crossing of Cabernet Franc and Sauvignon Blanc in 17th century southwest France.
Home to some of the most sought-after Cabernet Sauvignon in America, Napa Valley’s Oakville district stretches across the center of Napa's valley floor and foothills between the Vaca and Mayacamas Mountains. This AVA is home to the legendary To Kalon Vineyard and Martha's Vineyard, as well as many powerhouse wineries including Screaming Eagle, Silver Oak, Robert Mondavi, Opus One, Far Niente and Groth.
The climate is generally warm and agreeable, resulting in year after year of favorable vintages. Summer days see a gentle tug of war between warmer inland air and the cool air coming in from the San Pablo Bay, creating an ideal environment to grow red varieties. Oakville's diverse soils, namely ancient sea bedrock, clay and gravel, are well-drained, and perfect for high-caliber viticulture.
Cabernet here is often bottled varietally but is also popular in Bordeaux Blends. Oakville wines are known for their silky, sensual textures, structured tannins, dark and brooding fruit and lovely aromatics. These age-worthy and prestigious wines are favored by collectors throughout the world.
