Winemaker Notes

Aromas of white pepper, bittersweet chocolate and sage followed by flavors of intense black currant and mocha fudge brownie, the Wedding Vineyard is a massive mountain grown Cabernet Sauvignon. A full palate of layered chocolate, coffee, caramel and blackberry is punctuated by mouth-gripping ripe tannins and an intriguing minerality.

Professional Ratings

There are no reservations about the 1999 Cabernet Sauvignon Wedding Vineyard (430 cases). It boasts an opaque purple color along with gorgeous aromas of graphite, sweet barbecue smoke, earth, licorice, creme de cassis, and a hint of prunes. It is dense, full-bodied, and layered, with considerable power and tannin as well as exceptional extract, richness, and balance.

Fisher Vineyards, California
Fisher Vineyards Winery Image
Founded in 1973 by Fred and Juelle Fisher, the winery is nestled at the 1500-foot elevation on the western face of the Mayacamas Mountains between the Napa and Sonoma Valleys and home to their Wedding Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon and Whitney's Vineyard Chardonnay. Their Coach Insignia Cabernet, Lamb Vineyard Cabernet and RCF Vineyard Merlot come from their estate on the Silverado Trail in the Napa Valley. It is from these two sites that the winery strives to fulfill their mission of producing world class Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot.

While Sonoma County is acclaimed—and rightfully so—for its Chardonnays, Pinot Noirs, and Zinfandels, it also produces exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon. Of the region’s 18 American Viticultural Areas, only a handful produce top-notch Cabernet Sauvignon. These appellations include Alexander Valley, Knights Valley, Sonoma Valley and Dry Creek Valley. Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignons made in these appellations can offer a complex array of aromas and flavors. Fruit notes such as blackberry, blackcurrant, cassis, black cherry and raspberry often are accompanied by hints of graphite, dusty earth, cigar box, toast and vanilla. The varietal has a rich history in Sonoma, and some of these Cabernet Sauvignons and Cabernet-based blends rival the best from Napa Valley.
