    This Riesling is a testament to the variety and the cool climate of California's Central Coast Region. The wine exudes nectarine, mandarins, jasmine, lemon and lime zest, and honey. The residual sugar is nicely counterbalanced by the crisp acidity and low pH. After a soft entry on the palate, the finish is detailed and full.

    The exuberant fruit flavors and smart balance of this wine make it the ideal aperitif or accompaniment to Asian dishes, spicy Mexican foods or creamy cheeses.

    Firestone Vineyard was founded in 1972 as the first major estate winery established in Santa Barbara County. With 260 acres of historic vineyards, Firestone lies approximately 26 miles from the Pacific Ocean in Santa Ynez Valley. The maritime winds that funnel into the valley create a climate that is exceptionally cool and extends the growing season. The East-West orientation of the valley gives it a unique viticultural advantage and the region offers a wide diversity of well-drained soil types yielding wines that are richly intense and firmly structured.

    Riesling possesses a remarkable ability to reflect the character of wherever it is grown while still maintaining its identity. A regal variety of incredible purity and precision, this versatile grape can be just as enjoyable dry or sweet, young or old, still or sparkling and can age longer than nearly any other white variety. Somm Secret—Given how difficult it is to discern the level of sweetness in a Riesling from the label, here are some clues to find the dry ones. First, look for the world “trocken.” (“Halbtrocken” or “feinherb” mean off-dry.) Also a higher abv usually indicates a drier Riesling.

    The largest and perhaps most varied of California’s wine-growing regions, the Central Coast produces a good majority of the state's wine. This vast California wine district stretches from San Francisco all the way to Santa Barbara along the coast, and reaches inland nearly all the way to the Central Valley.

    Encompassing an extremely diverse array of climates, soil types and wine styles, it contains many smaller sub-AVAs, including San Francisco Bay, Monterey, the Santa Cruz Mountains, Paso Robles, Edna Valley, Santa Ynez Valley and Santa Maria Valley.
