Somm Note

Winemaker Notes

Presenting with aromas of marionberry jam, Bing cherry, Pluot, and a hint of wintergreen melding with savory meatiness. The juicy palate is packed full of fresh raspberry, huckleberry, and blackberry punctuated by cherry candy and a hint of warm spice. The finish is easy, supple, and oh-so sippable.

Svelte and supple, with delicate raspberry and strawberry blossom accents that glide on a sleek finish. Drink now through 2024.

COMMENTARY: The 2017 Erath Pinot Noir is juicy and delicious. TASTING NOTES: This wine is a beauty on the palate. Its charming and bountiful aromas and flavors of gentle berries ride pleasingly on the palate. Pair with rosemary-infused, grilled lamb chops. (Tasted: March 4, 2020, San Francisco, CA)

While the Willamette Valley and Pinot Noir are a like a fairy tale match made in heaven, most of Oregon is in fact, a glorious source of Pinot noir. Claiming over half of its total area under vine, Pinot noir also thrives in Southern Oregon’s Umpqua and Rogue Valleys where sedimentary and volcanic soils dominate hillside vineyards and cool temperatures create the perfect environment for Pinot noir. Also, Oregon’s Columbia Gorge is becoming increasingly popular for Pinot noir production. What sets Oregon Pinot noir apart from the Pinot of other regions, both New and Old World, is its innate combination of grace with both power and restraint.
