Though slightly higher in degree, at a reasonable 13.6%, the Cailleret is a far finer wine than the Folatières. It displays a clean, clear, fresh colour with also a pure white fruit on the nose: more style less weight. There is though still adequate weight here, in fact the fruit kicks on to a second level. With attractive acidity mixed in with some rich yellow fruit, this should go the distance.

Domaine des Lambrays owns just over 1.5ha of Cailleret in this parcel that touches Montrachet. The grapes were picked at an ideal balance of ripeness and acidity for a year such as 2019, with the must being fermented in cask, 50% new, and aged ten months. The result is ripe and lush, but it retains a perfect lemony freshness as well, with a strong mineral/saline component and well-integrated spice from the wood. A masterful white wine, not to be overlooked.

A sleek, delineated white, this offers lemon oil, apple and baking spice flavors allied to a vibrant structure. Balanced and compact on the finish. Shy now and like a laser, this needs a year or two to unpack.
The estate also boasts a castle and its ancient cellar, dating back to the seventeenth century, and of one of the most beautiful gardens of the region. The garden features a three hundred year old cedar as well as orchids and a collection of roses. This classical beauty of the grounds contribute heavily to the wine’s aesthetic qualities.
One of the most popular and versatile white wine grapes, Chardonnay offers a wide range of flavors and styles depending on where it is grown and how it is made. While it tends to flourish in most environments, Chardonnay from its Burgundian homeland produces some of the most remarkable and longest lived examples. California produces both oaky, buttery styles and leaner, European-inspired wines. Somm Secret—The Burgundian subregion of Chablis, while typically using older oak barrels, produces a bright style similar to the unoaked style. Anyone who doesn't like oaky Chardonnay would likely enjoy Chablis.
A source of some of the finest, juicy, silky and elegantly floral Chardonnay in the Côte de Beaune, Puligny-Montrachet lies just to the north of Chassagne-Montrachet, a village with which it shares two of its Grands Crus vineyards: Le Montrachet itself and Bâtard-Montrachet. Its other two, which it owns in their entirety, are Chevalier-Montrachet and Bienvenues-Bâtard-Montrachet. And still, some of the finest white Burgundy wines come from the prized Premiers Crus vineyards of Puligny-Montrachet. To name a few, Les Pucelles, Le Clavoillon, Les Perrières, Les Referts and Les Combettes, as well as the rest, lie northeast and up slope from the Grands Crus.
Farther to the southeast are village level whites and the hamlet of Blagny where Pinot Noir grows best and has achieved Premier Cru status.
