Winemaker Notes
"Inviting aromas of boysenberry and violet define the nose of this flagship Sonoma CountyCabernet Sauvignon. A rich and dense entry begins with layers of black raspberry, mocha and hints of blueberry. The palate offers a graceful balance between fruit extract and fine-grainedtannins. This deep, concentrated wine has a classic Cinq Cépages structure with beautiful oakintegration and a lushness throughout that leads to a lingering finish."

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The 2004 Cabernet Sauvignon Cinq Cepages is a blend of 77% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Merlot, 7% Cabernet Franc and the rest Malbec and Petit Verdot. A big sweet kiss of incense, bay leaf, white chocolate, black cherries, black currants and a touch of smoke jump from the glass of this opaque purple-colored wine. Rich and concentrated, this comes across as one of the best vintages I have tasted of Cinq Cepages.

Wine Enthusiast
Fans of CC will find a wine with the balance of previous vintages. It refuses to be a fruit bomb, but offers a wealth of sumptuous blackberry and cherry liqueur flavors that pull back at the last moment under a blanket of youthful tannins.

Wine & Spirits
Underneath the smoke of this wine's meaty black tannin there's a high-toned red fruit character, hinting at earthy roots and eucalyptus. A lamb chop will absorb some of the tannin and bring out the wine's elegance.

Founded in 1973 in the Sonoma Valley, Chateau St. Jean is the quintessential Sonoma winery. Chateau St. Jean produces an extensive portfolio of Sonoma County wines as well as vineyard designated wines, limited production Reserve wines, and the flagship Cinq Cépages Cabernet Sauvignon. Winemaker Margo Van Staaveren uses her more than 30 years of vineyard and winemaking expertise with Chateau St. Jean to continue the tradition of highlighting the best of each vineyard site to produce exceptional wines.
