Winemaker Notes
This wine is like a precious jewel, a rare mixture of scents in which honey, lime blossom, acacia and apricot mingle together. Some vintages also have aromas of almond, mirabelle plum and sultana. This wine will perfectly match as an aperitif, with "foie-gras" or fine desserts.

James Suckling
This is incredibly dense and powerful with a full body, very sweet palate. It?s chewy with pineapple and caramel character. Amazing character.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
Tasted blind at the château, the 1989 Château Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a lucid golden colour, limpid. The nose is very satisfying: a little resinous, crème brûlée and beeswax that does not hold back, but retains admirable delineation. The palate is quite spicy on the entry, very pure with tangerine coming through, dovetailing into a mellifluous finish offset by a twist of sour lemon. This is a great Lafaurie-Peyraguey and outplays the 1986 that was served alongside.

In the heart of the Sauternes country, Chateau Lafaurie-Peyraguey has a striking appearance, rising out of this gently rolling countryside. The walls surrounding it give it a Hispano-Byzantine look. Its XIIIth century gateway and castle towers, along with the main building rebuilt in the XVIIth century, are tangible proof of its age. Mr Lafaurie purchased it during the Revolution, in 1794, and his outstanding knowledge of things of the earth brought the vineyard immediate renown, which was carried on by Mr D. Cordier who became owner in 1917. It is rightly described as having the extravagance of perfection.
