Winemaker Notes

Styled like a classic white Bordeaux, this Sauvignon Blanc utilizes four distinctclones that reveal a range of aromatics, from tropical and citrus to floral andspice. Lush guava, peach and melon notes leap from the glass before openinginto juicy pineapple, green mango, almond wood and lemon zest on the palate.Though structured by rocky minerality and laserbeam acidity, this wine isindulgently creamy, rich and round.

Blend: 100% Sauvignon Blanc

The 2018 Sauvignon Blanc Pine Mountain is made of 100% Sauvignon Blanc from a vineyard at 2,850 feet in elevation. It aged in puncheon, barrel and amphora with bâtonnage for 10 months. It opens with notes of candle smoke, wet stone, red pear, kiwi, tarragon, gooseberry and grass with pineapple and white flower touches. It's medium-bodied and rounded in the mouth with great flavor intensity and layering, gaining in intensity as it travels through the mouth. It's enlivened by mouthwatering acidity and finishes long and textured. A lovely expression of Sauvignon Blanc!

White grapefruit, lemon curd, and a kiss of minerality all emerge from the medium-bodied 2018 Sauvignon Blanc Pine Mountain, which has a balanced, elegant texture, good acidity, and a clean finish. It's a quality, satisfying Sauvignon Blanc to enjoy over the coming 2-3 years.

Capture Winery Video

Capture Wines represents the marriage of time-honored Bordeaux winemaking with the intense fruit character of our organically farmed mountain estate, Tin Cross Vineyards, nearly 2,500 feet above the Alexander Valley floor in Sonoma County. Renowned winemaking team May-Britt and Denis Malbec, formerly of Chateau Latour in Bordeaux, create wines to bring out the rich personality of the terroir. The resulting wines are elegant expressions of depth, nuance and longevity.

Sam Teakle joined the Captûre winemaking team in 2015. Sam is tasked with finding and harnessing some of the best vineyards while creating wines that showcase the nuances of mountain Sauvignon Blanc and Cabernet Sauvignon from the rugged Mayacamas Mountain Range. Even before joining Capture he has been drawn to mountain vineyards and exploring the frontier of winemaking in these remote regions

Capable of a vast array of styles, Sauvignon Blanc is a crisp, refreshing variety that equally reflects both terroir and varietal character. Though it can vary depending on where it is grown, a couple of commonalities always exist—namely, zesty acidity and intense aromatics. This variety is of French provenance. Somm Secret—Along with Cabernet Franc, Sauvignon Blanc is a proud parent of Cabernet Sauvignon. That green bell pepper aroma that all three varieties share is no coincidence—it comes from a high concentration of pyrazines (herbaceous aromatic compounds) inherent to each member of the family.
