Quiet modern, offering spicy oak and mocha on the nose amid aromas of blueberries, cassis and bracken. The palate’s smooth and layered with mid-weight red fruits and lighter tannins that hold the finish in succulent style. Drink now.

Cap Royal, France
Cap Royal takes its name from the royal Cordouan lighthouse, the oldest lighthouse of Europe situated at the entrance of Gironde Estuary. CAP ROYAL benefits from the expertise of Jean René Matignon, winemaker of Chateau Pichon Baron, Grand Cru Classé Pauillac. CAP ROYAL Bordeaux Supérieur comes from lots selected for their quality and complexity by Jean René Matignon with winemaker partners. Aged in oak barrels the traditional Bordeaux way, CAP ROYAL Bordeaux Supérieur is the promise of an immediately pleasurable wine stamped by the great vineyards of the Médoc.

In most of France, wines are named by their place of origin and not by the type of grape (with the exception of Alsace). Just like a red Burgundy is by law, always made of Pinot noir, a red Bordeaux is a blended wine composed mainly of Cabernet Sauvignon and Merlot. Depending on the laws of the village from which the grapes come, the conditions of the vintage and decisions of the winemaker, the blend can be further supported by Cabernet Franc, Malbec, Petit Verdot and in rare cases, Carmenere. So popular and repeated has this mix of grape varieties become worldwide, that the term, Bordeaux Blend, refers to a wine blended in this style, regardless of origin.
