Winemaker Notes
This winery in Castiglione Falletto, the heart of the Barolo area, is the center of vinification for the grapes, which we produce on our four estates. Each one a cru accurately selected from the exposures most profoundly given to vine growing among the hills of the Langhe. The experienced choice of the land, the passionate care of the vineyards, as well as the careful selection of grapes during the harvest allow us to have at our disposition approximately 300.000 kg. of splendid grapes each year. We believe that this, together with our rigorous respect for local wine making tradition and 40 years of enological experience, guarantee an outstanding result for each wine we produce.
Attracting the most glory, prestige and fame to the Piedmont region, Nebbiolo in all of its expressions—Barolo, Barbaresco, Roero, Ghemme and Gattinara—creates a complex wine, truly unique for its delicate qualities combined with strength and a great potential to improve over time.
But Nebbiolo isn’t all there is to red wine from Piedmont! Barbera is the most planted variety and historically most popular as a dependable, food-friendly, everyday wine.
Beyond these two, a surprising number of red varieties call Piedmont their home. Worth a try include Dolcetto for its bold concentration and aromas of spice cake. Other grapes to investigate include Freisa, Croatina, Brachetto, Grignolino and Pelaverga.
