Beaulieu Vineyard Ensemble Signet Collection 1999

Brilliant ruby-violet color. The richest Ensemble yet, showing the excellent ripeness and layered flavors true to many 1999 vintage red wines. The aromas reveal ripe Syrah berry and black pepper scents, commingling with subtle but persistent Provençal herbs and licorice notes from the Mourvedre. Some sweet new oak vanilla and hints of cherry from the Grenache round out the beautiful bouquet. The flavors are ripe yet refined, with medium full body. Berry, licorice, cherry liqueur, and subtle floral notes (Viognier?!) are framed by a solid structure of soft tanning and moderate acidity, which provides a clean fresh finish as well. A bold, powerful yet harmonious wine.
