Winemaker Notes
This wine is brimming with full-bodied flavors of jammy, ripe black fruit, dried cranberries, and cherry preserves.Winemaker Francoise Peschon notes: The addition of Viognier adds an aromatic floral intrigue and softens the massivetannins in this intensely flavored wine. The notes of allspice, cinnamon, and hints of white pepper give a lasting spicyfinish to the huge flavors and mouthfilling texture. It is intensely concentrated and surprisingly supple. This wine shouldage effortlessly for 20 years.

Robert Parker's Wine Advocate
The spectacular 1995 Syrah Eisele Vineyard is one of the greatest New World Syrahs I have ever tasted. Approximately 300 cases were made, and it is even better out of bottle than it was in barrel. The color is an opaque purple. The bouquet offers explosive notes of wood fire, licorice, jammy blackberries and cassis, in addition to the unmistakable scent of black truffles/licorice. Full-bodied and rich, with sensational flavor extraction, remarkable harmony, and a 35+-second finish, this is profoundly great Syrah. While it is approachable, it will not reach full maturity for another 7-8 years; it will keep for 3 decades. Wow!

Wine Spectator
Smooth, rich and elegant, with polished currant, leather, anise, earth and mineral flavors that are complex and concentrated, sophisticated and long.

Since 1971, some of California's most ageworthy and intensely-flavored Cabernet Sauvignons have been made from grapes grown at the Eisele Vineyard, located on a benchland near the northern end of Napa Valley, just east of Calistoga. Protected by the Palisades Mountains to the north and cooled by westerly breezes from the Chalk Hill Gap, this 38-acre vineyard is planted on warm cobbly soils that produce a low-yielding crop of exceptionally concentrated fruit. Bart and Daphne Araujo acquired the Eisele Vineyard in 1990, and committed to producing only wines of the highest caliber and distinction. Araujo Estate produces 4 wines each vintage: Cabernet Sauvignon Eisele Vineyard, Altagracia, Syrah Eisele Vineyard and Sauvignon Blanc Eisele Vineyard.
