Winemaker Notes

At its core, the Estate Reserve Cabernet is the foundation of what they produce here. It is from this wine that the higher end Signature and Aurum wines are carved out for special bottlings, and from this wine the non-reserve bottling is removed. It is designed to be derivative of the vineyards’ terroir, balanced and animated, complex, age-worthy and especially satisfying to drink. This is the earth, the weather, the plants and the winemaker in tune, together. No one style or clone or barrel dominates in any way – here is instead a full-on expression of the vineyard, from the creek to the cave.

Professional Ratings

Opaque purple-black colored, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Reserve offers chocolate box, crème de cassis, herbs and earth with an undercurrent of tobacco, vanilla and spices. The palate is medium to full-bodied, firm and plush with good expression, finishing long and earthy.

From vines around the estate, the 2017 Cabernet Sauvignon Estate Reserve sports a dark plum/purple hue as well as textbook notes of blackcurrants, chocolate, toasted spice, and flowery incense. It's another straight, focused, beautifully balanced wine from this estate that has nicely polished tannins, medium to full body, and a great finish.

Anderson's Conn Valley Vineyards
Anderson's Conn Valley Vineyards, California
Anderson's Conn Valley Vineyards Winery Video
Anderson's Conn Valley Vineyards are located just east of St. Helena in the Napa Valley where Conn Creek flows out of Howell Mountain. Twenty-six acres of vineyards, divided into nine blocks, along with a fifteen acre-foot reservoir are the heart of this 40-acre grape-growing paradise.

Separated from the Napa Valley floor by a north/south running ridge, the world-renowned wineries of Joseph Heitz and Joseph Phelps are located on the west side of this ridge and the Anderson's Estate Vineyards are on the east side at a perfect elevation of 400 feet.

The vineyards not only enjoy Napa Valley's superb microclimate, but share the same Bale Loam Series as are found on the famous Rutherford Bench. This combination of clay-loam soil and microclimate produces up to 106 tons of exceptional fruit each year. One from which a world-class Cabernet Sauvignon and Bordeaux-style blend, called Éloge, can be artfully handcrafted.
