Amethyst Vinalia 1998

This wine transports you to ancient Roman Bacchanalias, festivals called Vinalia, which occured in the spring and fall, celebrating the season of the vine. Our Vinalia celebrates the marriage of the soft Sangiovese grape native to Tuscany to the more acerbic Nebbiolo originating in Piedmont. We grow the fruit on our own small Carneros vineyard site and acquire additional grapes as needed. The wine is aged for a full two years in oak barrels. Vinalia shows complex spice and fruit aromas. Its flavors are full and dry in the old-fashioned Italian manner. Vinalia will be at its best with rich food and good friends. Salute.
