Clear and bright in the glass, the nose shows hints of maple and ripe tropical fruit, plus a mildly funky edge. The complex, rounded palate showcases lychee and coconut sweetness, fading into a nutmeg finish. Made with a blend of column distilled rum from Trinidad and “trace amounts” of pot distilled rum from Jamaica, blended in Amsterdam, where it is also charcoal filtered and aged in oak for a minimum of three years.
Denizen offers award-winning, full-flavored, rum that is made in a tradition that traces its roots back to the original rum merchants who explored the Caribbean. This dynamic product is made by blending the rum from various Caribbean distilleries and regions in order to craft a bold and layered spirit sure to enhance any cocktail.
Denizen has partnered with Master Rum Blenders, E&A Scheer based in Amsterdam. They have a history reaching back to 1712, as company that part of the Dutch West Indies Trading Company and who has since won many awards and recognition as masters in their craft.
Often referred to as a Gold Rum, an Aged Rum is one that has been aged in barrels, often Ex-Bourbon or White Oak before bottling. As the Rum continues to age, it draws more and more color and flavor from the wood, adding both body and complexity to the finished product. Aged Rums can be sipped neat or added to cocktails. They fall somewhere in between White and Dark Rums in terms of their respective strength of flavor.
