Learn about Moschofilero — taste profile, popular regions and more …
Producing a delicately perfumed, fresh white wine, the Greek Moschofilero grape is a pink-skinned variety from the Mantineia plateau in the Peloponnese. Here the cool growing conditions allow ample time for the grapes to develop balanced sugars and aromatics. Moschofilero is actually the most popular of many mutations of the ancient Fileri grape. These range in color from white to red and produce an array of styles including fruity pink and sparkling versions.
Tasting Notes for Moschofilero
Moschofilero is a dry white wine distinguished by expressive potpourri aromatics of rose, jasmine and spice. Vibrant with crisp acidity, Moschofilero wines are generous with notes of melon and citrus. It can also produce semi-sweet versions.
Perfect Food Pairings for Moschofilero
Freshness is key when pairing with Moschofilero—match it up with smoked salmon, sautéed scallops, goat cheese, grilled chicken and asparagus and Middle Eastern mezze.
Somm Secret for Moschofilero
If you already love Muscat, definitely try Moschofilero. Though the grapes are unrelated, they produce remarkably similar wines.
