Herbert Weis, a former marathon runner, merged his father’s estate Weingut Weis with the 150 year old estate Erben von Beulwitz in 1982 when he purchased it from the former owner. With body and soul, he has dedicated himself to the goal of producing wines of the highest quality every year, which are shaped by their origins and are developed individually and with great sensitivity. Practicing organic viticulture, he works as closely with nature as possible. Herbert thinks of Riesling as a diva with a lot of special requirements. His top vineyard site Kaseler Nies’chen, located on a steep slope along the Ruwer, a tributary to the Mosel, combines all the properties valued by the Riesling diva in one ideal location. Herbert’s Kaseler Nies'chen Grosse Lage (Grand Cru) Rieslings exhibit sheer elegance and finesse that duly compete with the renowned estates in the neighborhood such as: Maximin Grünhaus, Karthäuserhof and von Kesselstatt.
