Although the Meursault appellation was established in 1937, the wine-growing history of the Bocard family predates it. In the 1920s, Charles Bocard, Guy's grandfather, created the family estate. 1959 was a major turning point for the family as Charles’ son, also named Charles Bocard, began bottling and selling his wines directly from the cellar door. His son Guy Bocard bought several more plots in Meursault between 1976 and 1983, adding acreage to his father's vines, and created a more modern winery in the village in 1987. Thanks to the large number of customers, Guy continued the sales to individuals initiated by his father and developed them in his small cellar. In the 90's, he decided to start exporting. Childless, Guy sold his domaine to the Warion family, who began reconfiguring some vineyards and converting the estate to organic viticulture.
