Advanced Class: Red Wines of the Rhône Valley

Monday, April 8

"I remember when I was living in France in the 70’s and travelling on the trains (TGV), Côtes du Rhône wines were served in the dining car. They were easy to drink and very affordable.

"That was where my love affair with Rhône wines began and over the last 50 years, the quality of these wines has become world class.

"Côtes du Rhône is still my 'house' wine and still represents one of the great value wines in the world. The Syrah based Northern Rhône such as Crozes Hermitage and St.-Joseph and the Grenache based wines such as Châteauneuf-du-Pape and Gigondas are the benchmark wines in the world for these two grapes." - Kevin Zraly

This class will run from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. ET.

Advanced Class: Red Wines of Tuscany

Monday, April 15

"Tuscany is my choice of all the wine regions in the world to visit, with obviously great wines and food, but also the mountains and the sea which add to the beauty. When people tell me that they just returned from vacationing in Tuscany, my response is, 'Why did you come back?'

"Sangiovese is the star grape in Tuscany. Chianti Classico Riserva is my go-to wine with Parmigiano-Reggiano cheese and Italian chicken and veal specialties. Vino Nobile di Montepulciano, because of its small production, is not as well known, but its wine from great producers like Salcheto brings a beautiful Tuscan style to the table. The King of Tuscany is Brunello di Montalcino, made from 100% Sangiovese. Brunello is in my top 10 wines in the world for quality and the best 'value' of the great wines.

"The biggest change in Tuscany over the last 50 years is under the heading of 'Super' Tuscans. Banfi’s Magna Cum Laude is a blend of Sangiovese and international grapes Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot and Syrah." - Kevin Zraly

This class will run from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. ET.

Master Class: The Great Wine Regions of Bordeaux

Monday, May 6

"We end the semester with a Master Class on the Red Wine Regions of the Medoc, St. Emilion, Pomerol and Graves.

"Why is Bordeaux considered the GOAT of wine? With the grapes Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon and Cabernet Franc, the Bordeaux Blend has become synonymous with the highest quality Red Wines in the world. By tasting chateaux of each of the four main appellations, we will see how the blends of these wines make for a perfect balance of fruit, acid, and tannin and why the great Bordeaux Reds need many years of aging before you drink them, especially the great vintages of 2016, 2018, 2019 & 2020." - Kevin Zraly

This class will run from 7:00 - 8:30 p.m. ET.
