    Somm Note

    Winemaker Notes

This 100% Cabernet Sauvignon hails from an immaculately tended vineyard where wide-spaced vines and well-draining soil result in a wine of power, balance and density with rich, dark fruit aromas, subtle vanilla oak notes and silky tannins.

The wine exhibits a vibrancy of spiced vanilla, perfumed currants and richly layered dark fruit notes. Its voluptuous grip of tannin, bright acidity and sweet oak mid-tones give the wine depth and balance with velvety smooth structure.

In the heart of Sonoma County, Lambert Bridge Winery sits nestled among redwood forested hills and rolling vineyards, just west of Dry Creek and its namesake trestle bridge.

When the Chambers Family discovered this rustic stretch of Dry Creek they fell completely in love. Ray and Patti Chambers decided to make the winery their own in 1993. Their vision was heartfelt and enduring from the start: honor this idyllic land, farm and craft Sonoma’s finest small-lot wines, and create an inspiring setting to relish wine, food, and friendship. Utmost quality demands exacting, uncompromising methods. The limited production affords winemaker Jennifer Higgins intimate involvement and full control in every aspect of the farming and winemaking process.

Lambert Bridge's approach to winemaking is straightforward and relentless: chase excellence in every detail. By keeping production small and standards incredibly high, they make no compromise and spare no expense. The result is a portfolio of small lot world-class wines that captures the essence of the vineyard and vintage, year after year.

While Sonoma County is acclaimed—and rightfully so—for its Chardonnays, Pinot Noirs, and Zinfandels, it also produces exceptional Cabernet Sauvignon. Of the region’s 18 American Viticultural Areas, only a handful produce top-notch Cabernet Sauvignon. These appellations include Alexander Valley, Knights Valley, Sonoma Valley and Dry Creek Valley. Sonoma Cabernet Sauvignons made in these appellations can offer a complex array of aromas and flavors. Fruit notes such as blackberry, blackcurrant, cassis, black cherry and raspberry often are accompanied by hints of graphite, dusty earth, cigar box, toast and vanilla. The varietal has a rich history in Sonoma, and some of these Cabernet Sauvignons and Cabernet-based blends rival the best from Napa Valley.
