Argiano's Brunello di Montalcino is distinguished by its elegance and its deep ruby red colour. It presents a good concentration on the mid-palate and a persistent aftertaste, with a rounded and voluptuous body, and interesting, silky tannins. It unites potency and elegance and looks like having a promising future. With its tempting perfumes of red berries and its clean freshness, the complexity of this wine presents an excellent balance.

To fully appreciate its qualities, decant the wine at least one hour before serving.

    An unforgiving, powerfully structured wine with fabulous grilled-meat, granite, dried-berry and flower-petal character. Full-bodied, chewy and intense. Great structure. Extremely long and intense. Sexy austerity. Gets the juices going. Best ever from here. Reminds me of the great Argianos of the 1970s.

    Aged for 24 months in oak, the gorgeous 2010 Brunello di Montalcino is a brooding, dark wine with great aromatic purity. The fruit tones are rich and penetrating, spanning from plum, prune and cassis to spice cake, tar and black licorice. The wine's concentration is luscious and opulent. The oak element imparts lasting aromas of spice, toast and caramel but the wine already shows a good degree of integration that should help it continue its bottle evolution. Hold this wine until 2017.

    Dense and beefy, with a core of cherry augmented by tobacco, spice and earth flavors. Feels like it’s closing down, yet all the components are there and the finish is long. Best from 2019 through 2032.

    Smoked almond and roasted coffee notes weave through dense blackberry and plum flavors, giving this a dark and dusky character that’s enlivened by vanilla, clove, anise and sage. The flavors take a savory turn on the finish, with a plum tomato tang—a good match for Bolognese sauce.

After this estate was acquired by Countess Noemi Marone Cinzano, the philosophy changed whereby quality and personality became the dominant priorities. In order to achieve these goals, Sebastiano Rosa was appointed as General Manager of the Estate. Having spent six years at the University of California at Davis, a two year tenure at Chateau Lafite Rothschild and three years at Sassacaia, he brings a strong mix of experience. In addition, Dr. Giacomo Tachis, probably the most well known winemaker in Italy today, became the oenologist. His legacy includes Sassacaia, Tignanello and Solaia, to name a few. Argiano's vineyards are located in the Montalicino area where a perfect microclimate assures a super ecological system. Varietals such as Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Syrah and Sangiovese are planted. These grapes have not traditionally been part of the Montalcino area.
