Winemaker's Notes:

It appears a deep, purple-edged ruby red, of impressive brilliance. Solid fruit notes of wild blackberry, blueberry, raspberry and dark cherry emerge initially on the nose, gradually yielding to more pungent impressions of sage, rosemary, vanilla, and cinnamon. That spiciness segues onto the palate, and then into a finish that ends with a flourish of balsam, black pepper, and cocoa powder. The mid-palate shows alcoholic warmth and roundedness, while the tannins and acidity are noticeable, adding to the wine's overall harmony.
My Notes:

Additional wines from Frescobaldi:

About Frescobaldi:

The Marchesi de' Frescobaldi is one of Italy's oldest wineries, with a history dating to the 1300s. The family has included medieval knights, bankers, lawyers and patrons of the arts. The Marchesi de' Frescobaldi is one of the most significant wine producers in Italy, with nine estates—and roughly 2,500 acres—in Tuscany. The family has been growing wine since the late 19th century, when they became the first in Tuscany to import and plant French vine cuttings. Because they have been producing wines for more than 700 years, to experience Frescobaldi is to glimpse the history of Florence, from the Middle Ages to the present day.

Wine Spectator has ranked many of their offerings in the 90s and their wines are consistently listed in the magazine's Top 100 Wines of the Year, encouraging wine enthusiasts from around the globe to become familiar with some of Italy's finest wines.

Winemaker's Notes:

The Tradition Chateauneuf-du-Pape is the total expression of the power of symphony. With each mouthful, you sense the release of the most beautiful sonorities. This wine draws its power and mellowness, its color and its solidity from the three pricipal grape varieties - Grenache, Syrah, and Mourvèdre.
My Notes:

Additional wines from Chateau Fortia:

About Chateau Fortia:

The Domain Chateau Fortia, is one of the oldest of Chateauneuf du Pape. The estate is situated in the "grenade" neighborhood where the lands are cultivated with vines since the 17th century. It is in the 19th century that Paul Antoine de Fortia, son of Hercule Paul de Fortia developed the vineyard and constructed new buildings; a notorized act of 1815 mention a castle named " la Fortiasse". You can't help but feel the sense of the history of Chateauneuf du Pape, when you see the beautiful buildings at Fortia.

Winemaker's Notes:

Pigeage is the French word for crushing grapes by foot, a traditional practice in the northern Rhône Valley, and at Neyers Vineyards. Whole clusters of grapes are dumped directly into a fermentation tank, and a worker wearing flexible waders walks in circles on top of these whole berries for 30 minutes or so. The process is normally repeated twice daily, and after a week or so enough juice has been released by the process that the cap can be manually 'punched down', to stay in contact with the fermenting juice. With Syrah in particular, our traditional pigeage results in a wine with better color, less tannin and a more complex aroma. Over the past five vintages, every bottling of this wine has received a score of 92, 93 or 94 POINTS from The Wine Advocate, The Wine Spectator or The International Wine Cellar. The 2009 vintage of our Old Lakeville Syrah is easily our best one to date.
My Notes:

Additional wines from Neyers:

About Neyers:

Begun in 1992 by Bruce and Barbara Neyers and their winemaking partner, Ehren Jordan, Neyers Vineyards produces 15,000 cases of wine annually. They rely primarily on Merlot, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon grown on the Neyers' 50-acre Conn Valley ranch farmed by Hugo and Lupe Maldonado. Additioanl grapes are purchased from a select group of growers, several of which are identified on the labels of wines produced from grapes they have grown. In 1999 Neyers purchased the 30-acre Sage Canyon Winery in the foothills east of Rutherford and have developed that facility for their entire production that also includes Syrah, Grenache, Zinfandel and Chardonnay.

Family-owned. Artisan winemaking. Acclaimed Chardonnay, Merlot, Syrah and Cabernet Sauvignon. You’ve heard dozens of wineries make these claims, and while these statements are certainly true of Januik wines, they seem a little cliché too.

So rather than tell you who we are, we invite you to try our wines or visit us at our new Woodinville winery and let us earn your trust. If Januik becomes your go-to wine, we’ve done our job.

Winemaker's Notes:

This New World-styled Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend offers intense aromas of tobacco leaf and blackberry on the nose, with hints of rose petal and green peppercorn. The wine is dry, but with a creamy texture, and is soft and intense and packed with fine-grained tannins. The finish is full of vanilla and orange extract. This is a wine to cellar.
My Notes:

About Spring Valley Vineyard:

Spring Valley Vineyard is a limited-production winery producing only estate-grown-and-bottled red wines. For more than a century, the Corkum-Derby family has been farming the area known as Spring Valley. Grapes were first planted in 1993. Spring Valley produced its first estate grown and bottled wine, Uriah, with the 1999 vintage. Today, Uriah is one of Washington's most acclaimed red wines, and the Spring Valley family of wines has grown to include seven red wines: Uriah (Merlot-based blend), Frederick (Cabernet Sauvignon-based blend), Nina Lee (100% Syrah), Katherine Corkrum (100% Cabernet Franc), Mule Skinner (100% Merlot), Derby (100% Cabernet Sauvignon) and the newest release, Sharilee (Petit Verdot). The names given to their wines are a tribute to the family members who have struggled and succeeded in farming the same land where Spring Valley Vineyard now flourishes.

Winemaker's Notes:

Every year, we bring in approximately 35 lots of Zinfandel averaging 25-30 years in age. Each of these lots is produced under the careful eye of our winemaker, Ted Seghesio. The best of these lots are selected to make Sonoma Zinfandel. A small amount of Petite Sirah is blended in the wine for added complexity. The result is a tantalizing black raspberry and classic briary flavored wine with a balance of components for which Seghesio wines are known.
My Notes:

Additional wines from Seghesio Family Vineyards:

Established in 1985, when Edoardo Seghesio planted his first Zinfandel vineyard in Sonoma County's Alexander Valley, Seghesio Family Vineyards produces wines that honor the history of Sonoma and the Seghesio family. True to their oldest plantings, Seghesio concentrates on Zinfandel, Italian varietals and Pinot Noir. Ted Seghesio is the winemaker.

PRICE ON 8/22/2014: $16.99

Winemaker's Notes:

For in this offering Bianchi has incorporated some neighbor's grapes to meld with the Estate Zen Zin and go beyond the perquisite panoply of aromas and flavors - fruit forward berry jam with hints of mint, earth, vanilla and smoke – and we see a pleasant overtone of oak spice with a kick of cinnamon preceding a mouth-coating finish.

Note that 11% of the blend comprising some Estate Syrah as well as Zin from some of the oldest vines in Paso Robles, some older than 80 years, are all there for color and depth. The 5% older vintage wines bring a mellow aged quality. So in the evolutionary history of Bianchi Zins, the 2009 is complex, lavishing lodes more layers of flourishing flavors.

Blend: 96% Zinfandel and 4% Syrah

My Notes:

About Bianchi Vineyards:

The Bianchi family has a long history of involvement in the wine Industry, dating back to 1974 when Glenn and his father, Joseph invested in a winery and vineyard on the banks of the San Joaquin river in the Central Valley of California.

Situated on a gentle rise, the new Bianchi Winery has a commanding view looking west over undulating vineyards dotted with ancient oaks. The state of the art stainless steel fermentation tanks provide the winemaker the latest computerized monitoring system and the option to make select, limited production wines. Similarly, the new barrel room for the French and American oak has the capacity to allow blending and aging of small lots. It is here at our new home in Paso Robles that the Bianchi renaissance is taking place as we expand into the super and ultra premium categories with estate grown and hand crafted wines.

Deep ruby red with a violet hue on the edge, Artezin Zinfandel has a brambly red fruit profile with aromas of red boysenberries, raspberries and black pepper alongside spicy notes of cloves, cinnamon and nutmeg. The flavors fill the palate, dominated by raspberry jam, fresh boysenberry and pomegranate with a black pepper note. The finish is soft, with supple tannins creating a firm, yet lush mouthfeel. Though this wine is created for immediate enjoyment, it will age gracefully for several years.
