Winemaker's Notes:

Intensely red with violet tones, with earthy, forest floor and bittersweet chocolate aromas. Elegant and smooth with black cherry liqueur on the edges and a touch of vanilla from the oak. It is well-structured but graces the palate with soft, sweet tannins and good acidity on a closely-knit frame. Made with 100% Malbec.
My Notes:

About Anoro:

Añoro (pronounced ‘ahn-your-o’) is a unique word with no direct translation into English. In Spanish it often refers to the act of reminiscing or dreaming of a special time in one’s past. For us, it means creating something that we once only dreamed of – the wines of Añoro.

Winemaker's Notes:

La Follette North Coast Pinot Noir offers a symphony of red fruits in the glass, joined by earthy forest floor elements and notes of rose petal, rosemary and sage. A bright entry of red cherry transitions midpalate to charcuterie and cranberry, offering a lovely acid/tannin balance. The late palate displays intriguing notes of quince and lavender, wrapped in a long, spicy finish. Overall, a multi-layered and palate-pleasing rendition of coastal Pinot Noir.

Winemaker's Notes:

Intense and deep purple red color. Very expressive fruit with outstanding mature berries, forest fruit joined with delicate hints of coffee and toast coming from the barrels. From the start, it's a remarkable expression of Carmenere thanks to the typical fruit like plums, blackberries and some spicy touches. The tannins are polished and long with a medium body at the end.

It expresses marvelously well with game meat, garnished with sweet-and-sour sauces and berries.

Ruby red with purple reflections. The bouquet has beautiful and complex aromas of black currant, dried plums and Indian tea. This is a complex, vibrant, focused wine has refreshing acidity and ripe fruit. Made with 100% Barbera.

Will age well for 10 to 15 years. A great pairing for all kinds of appetizers and soft cheeses.

My Notes:

Additional wines from La Spinetta:

About La Spinetta:

The Rivetti family story begins in the 1890s, when Giovanni Rivetti, left Piedmont for Argentina. Like many Italians then, he dreamed of returning rich man, perhaps even one day able to make great wine in his homeland. He never did, though his son, Giuseppe “Pin” did. Pin married Lidia, bought vineyards and began to make wine. In 1977 the family took up residence at La Spinetta (top of the hill) in Castagnole Lanze. It was the heart of the Moscato d’Asti country, a rather light and simple dessert wine. But the Rivettis believed that Moscato had the potential for greatness and set out to prove it by making Moscato Bricco Quaglia and Biancospino.

Eventually though the family’s vision was even grander. In 1985 La Spinetta made its first red wine, Barbera Cà di Pian. After this many great reds followed: In 1989 the Rivettis dedicated their red blend Pin to their father. From 1995 to 1998 they started to make their first Barbaresco Gallina, Barbarescos Starderi, Barbera d'Alba Gallina, Barbaresco Valeirano, and the Barbera d'Asti Superiore. In 2000 the family began making a Barolo and built a state of the art cellar, Barolo Campè.

In 2001 LA SPINETTA expanded over the borders of Piedmont and acquired 65 hectares of vineyards in Tuscany, between Pisa and Volterra to make three different 100% Sangiovese wines, as Sangiovese to us, is the true ambassador of the Tuscan terrain.

My Notes:

Additional wines from Bodegas Caro:

About Bodegas Caro:

CARO was born of an alliance between two wine cultures (French and Argentine), two noble grape varieties (Cabernet Sauvignon and Malbec), and two renowned wine families (Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) and Nicolas Catena.)

Immediately after CARO's 2002 release, the first vintage of CARO, 2000, was acclaimed by professionals. The achievement of CARO has naturally led the partners to elaborate another wine based on the traditional Argentinean Malbec, conserving the fine balance between the characteristics of Argentina and the style of Bordeaux wines. As a commemoration to the Andean roots, the Indian name of a pretty little flower, which grows on the high altitude of the Andes has been chosen: Amancaya.

Vignerons since the 19th century, these two powerful organizations have combined their deep knowledge of Mendoza's high altitude terroir and the art of winemaking to create truly unique wine.

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2009 Ladera Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon produced a fruit-driven wine with an intense nose and flavors, great texture and seamless balance. Aromas of ripe plum and black cherries are complemented by notes of cedar and anise. The palate is layered with black fruits, sweet oak spice and ripe tannins that linger to a long velvety finish.
My Notes:

Additional wines from Ladera:

About Ladera:

Ladera Vineyards is located in the Howell Mountain appellation of the Napa Valley at an elevation of 1800 feet. The winery was originally built in 1886 and is listed in the official book of ghost wineries of Napa Valley. The proprietors, the Stotesbery family, have completely restored the old stone building, returned it to its original intent as a gravity flow winery and added nearly 18,000 square feet of caves for barrel storage. In addition to the Howell Mountain Appellation Cabernet Sauvignon, Ladera also produces a vineyard-designated Cabernet called Lone Canyon Vineyard. Both wines express their hillside vineyard heritage and hence the mantra: hillside estate Cabernet.
