About Craggy Range Winery:

From the beginning, Craggy Range Winery has some great land and vineyards and a wonderful home in which to weave the strands together. The first wines made in the 1999 vintage are from small parcels of mature vineyards in Marlborough and Hawkes Bay. The wines show the character of the vineyards and the Craggy Range philosophy of wine both inside and outside the bottle. In time, as the vines mature on their own estates, the wines of Craggy Range Winery will without doubt express their origin and the commitment and skill of their people.

Additional wines from Mitolo:

About Mitolo:

In a short period of time Mitolo has become recognized as one of the finest producers in McLaren Vale. Mitolo is a family owned business, started by and led by the founder and owner Frank Mitolo's vision to create a range of wines of individuality, integrity and utmost quality. Whether it is in the vineyard, or in the winery, or the work of the different coopers who source and shape the diverse barrels which are used at Mitolo, each wine is nurtured and developed with a zealous passion that spares no effort to ensure that the best of everything is brought together to make wines of purity, elegance and power.

Italian family roots inspired Frank's early interest and enthusiasm for good food and great wine. With three earlier generations of his family working as agriculturists and entrepreneurs, it is not surprising that (while heading an international horticultural business), Frank found the energy and passion to pursue his dream of creating world-class wines. The business was established in 1999 and a year later the first Mitolo wine was launched. It was called G.A.M.; named after Frank’s three children and the next generation of Mitolo’s, Gemma, Alexander and Marco.

Acclaimed winemaker Ben Glaetzer is a partner in the business and the combination of his winemaking skills and Frank’s vision have led Mitolo to international recognition and acclaim. What started out as a dream is becoming an exciting reality, and Mitolo Wines has only just begun on its journey.

Winemaker's Notes:

The Yalumba Signature 2006 is a very deep dark red with generous sweet dark chocolate and warm fig, blackcurrant and cedary spices on the nose. The palate is broad shouldered, intense and concentrated with lingering red and black currant notes. Young and tight, this wine will reveal an elegance and silky refinement on the palate given time. Perfect with braised lamb shanks.

A complex array of sweet tropical fruit, lychee, pineapple and musk melon, with a hint of caramel and toast on the nose. Cinnamon, vanilla and ginger add layers or complexity and richness.

Sweet lemon and peach at entry, with a core of passionfruit, grilled pineapple and red apple. The flavor builds with layers of vanilla, whipped cream and brown sugar. Rich and concentrated flavors finish smooth with a hint of lingering nutmeg spice.

Made from 100% Viognier, our 2010 blend has beautiful aromas of lychee and fruit blossoms followed by a delicious mouth full of apricot, tangerine, and peach. The brilliantly balanced acidity begs for this Viognier to be paired with semi-soft cheeses such as gruyere and chêvre or with a Thai salad.

Winemaker's Notes:

#65 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2011

Shafer's single-vineyard Carneros-grown Chardonnay is produced from small-clustered clones of grapes selected for their low yields and distinctive flavors. Fermentation takes place within individual oak and stainless steel barrels using native yeasts. The wine matures on the lees for 14 months and since it undergoes no malolactic fermentation this Chardonnay retains a lively natural acidity. The vineyard is named for its Red-shouldered Hawks and other birds of prey, who play an important role in Shafer's natural farming practices.

The 2009 offers lush, luxurious aromas and flavors of melon, honeysuckle, apricot, pineapple and flint all held together with bright acidity, good structure and elegant balance.

Light straw color. Attractive and delicate aromas of white flowers, tangerine and coconut are evident before opening up to green apples and crisp Anjou pear. Citrus and stone-fruit flavors develop on the palate with the characteristic lemon backbone of the Sonoma Coast. Medium bodied with a crisp and bright acidity the wine finishes with a distinctive coastal minerality. Delicious now or cellar through 2014.

About Flowers:

As nursery owners in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, Walt and Joan Flowers had long dreamed of combining their love of wine with their passion for agriculture. They knew they wanted to produce their favorite varietals, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir; what they didn't know what that their path would eventually lead them across the country to Northern California's rugged Sonoma Coast. In 1989, Walt and Joan purchased 321 acres, including a ridge top, high above the Pacific Ocean on the northern Sonoma Coast. Today, Flowers Winery produces Chardonnay and Pinot Noir from its two estate properties, Camp Meeting Ridge Vineyard and Sea View Ridge Vineyard, as well as select vineyards in the coolest regions of the Sonoma Coast AVA, which are famed to Flowers' specifications by their own crews.

Additional wines from d'Arenberg:

About d'Arenberg:

One of the undisputed kings of Australian Shiraz and Rhone varietals, d'Arenberg has managed to turn individuality into an art form by doing a whole lot of little things differently. The original vineyards were established by Joseph Osborn in 1912 in the McLaren Vale region of South Australia. A century on, the estate has grown to 345 acres, and the mantle now rests with fourth-generation winemaker, Chester Osborn. By maintaining a focus on traditional winemaking and nurturing their old-vine material, the Osborn clan has successfully established themselves as one of the country's leading producers of concentrated wines that are full of character.
