Winemaker's Notes:

Spicy, lush black fruit flavors of Alexander Valley. Briary and raspberry flavors are present, along with structure of of cooler Dry Creek Valley. Overall, this is a balanced and elegantly structured Zinfandel.

About Seghesio Family Vineyards:

Established in 1985, when Edoardo Seghesio planted his first Zinfandel vineyard in Sonoma County's Alexander Valley, Seghesio Family Vineyards produces wines that honor the history of Sonoma and the Seghesio family. Seghesio Family Vineyards' 300 acres in the Alexander, Dry Creek and Russian River valleys represent some of the oldest vineyards and proprietary clones. True to their oldest plantings, Seghesio concentrates on Zinfandel, Italian varietals and Pinot Noir. Ted Seghesio is the winemaker.

Additional wines from Simonnet-Febvre:

About Simonnet-Febvre:

The Maison & Domaine of Simonnet-Febvre were founded in 1840 by Jean Febvre, a barrel maker by trade from the town of Montbard. In the early days, the house was known for its sparkling Chardonnays from Chablis, known today as Crémants de Bourgogne. Over the years, the Febvres acquired holdings in some of the greatest terroirs in Chablis. Today, the domaine comprises approximately 9 acres, crowned by a 2/3 acre plot in the Grand Cru vineyard of Les Preuses, with 3.5 acres of 1er Cru Mont de Milieu and 4.7 acres of communal Chablis vineyards. In 2003, Simonnet-Febvre was acquired by Maison Louis Latour. Since its purchase, the Latours have completely renovated the winemaking facilities, installing new stainless steel tanks and pneumatic presses. The vineyards have been reworked with the same sustainable vineyard practices utilized in Latour’s 125 acre domain in the Côte d’Or. Maison Louis Latour also hired a talented new winemaker, Jean-Philippe Archambaud.

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2012 Vin Gris features a distinctive pale salmon color and is loaded with lively flavors and aromas of strawberry, cherry fruit, and dusty rose petal. The acidity and structure pairs elegantly with a spinach salad topped with pecans and strawberries. For that matter, a light lemon vinaigrette dressing on most salads is the perfect "bridge" to the Vin Gris.

Additional wines from J Vineyards & Winery:

About J Vineyards & Winery:

Founded by Judy Jordan in 1986, J Vineyards & Winery is an independently owned Sonoma County winery. Located on Old Redwood Highway south of Healdsburg, the winery focuses on Brut and Brut Rose sparkling wines, as well as Pinot Noir, Chardonnay and Pinot Gris - terroir-driven varietal wines, produced from estate-grown grapes farmed primarily within Sonoma County's Russian River Valley appellation. In 1994, the first small lots of Pinot Noir varietal wines were produced at J, but sparkling wine continued to be the winery's focus. In 2006, J formally launched an estate varietal program based on its 254-acres of Russian River Valley vineyards. Today, under the direction of winemaker Melissa Stackhouse, J Vineyards & Winery produces several small-lot Pinot Noirs. The winery celebrates its 25th harvest in 2012.
