Winemaker's Notes:

 This is the wine conceived and desired by Vittorio Fiore after long years of study, thought, and working experience and it is the result of an exceptional pairing and synergy: Sangiovese and the Ruffoli vineyards in Greve in Chianti. The results of this synergy - the grapes harvested in the Carbonaione vineyard – are worked with passion and dedication by Vittorio Fiore and his son Jurij in order to obtain a wine of great power and elegance, one capable of expressing in all of its richness the terroir in which it is born.

About Poggio Scalette:

 The vineyards of Podere Poggio Scalette take their name from the landscape, which is characterized by drystone walls that support the terraces on which the vineyards and olive groves are planted. From a distance the impression is of a series of stairs climbing the slopes of Greve. After the death of the previous owner, Podere Poggio Scalette remained abandoned for years until Vittorio Fiore (one of Italy's most famed winemakers) and his wife Adriana discovered the property in 1991.

Winemaker's Notes:

 This Chardonnay was tank fermented with a small portion of this blend fermented in oak, this fraction aged for 5 months in French and American oak. With aromas of baked apple tarts, pears and slight honey and lemongrass note. The flavor profile is pear with a slight pineapple into the palate with citrus notes that carry to the finish.

The Bancroft family began construction of the site in 1896 and by 1906 called it their home. One of the many prestigious visitors to this estate was General Vallejo, he gave the gift of a Pepper tree to the Bancroft family (a symbol of good luck); this tree still stands as a stately figure on the grounds today.

Fine tiny bubbles and a long lasting mousse are the usual footprints of the L'Ermitage cuvée. This cuvée is showing great notes of "tarte tatin": baked apples and buttery crust, with notes of apricot and delicate vanilla bean. The mouthfeel is creamy, expresses flavors of quince and bread crust, with a clean and crisp yet long finish.

Winemaker's Notes:

 SILVER captures the pure, clean expression of Chardonnay from the Pacific coastline in California. Using Chardonnay grapes grown in our Mer Soleil Vineyard in the Santa Lucia Highlands of Monterey County, we harvest the grapes when just fully ripe, their gold color hued with green. Thee wine is fermented and aged in natural cement tanks imported from France, allowing for this varietal's clean aromas to shine bright. We're celebrating this process with a new ceramic bottle and cork finish.

Mineral driven nose with citrus shining through. Cement tank fermentation and aging bring out aromas remindful of the first rain of the season or a wet rock. Soft and round entry with an acid backbone informs you these grapes are grown in a cooler climate. Mid palate reveals ripe fruit such as lemons, gooseberry and grapefruit. Finishes dry while the acid comes and goes in a balanced fashion. Laser sharp minerality carries through from start to finish on both palate and aroma.

About Mer Soleil:

 The Mer Soleil Vineyard is named for two natural forces that create its growing conditions: sea (mer) and sun (soleil). With plantings at two separate locations in the Santa Lucia Highlands appellation of Monterey County, Mer Soleil’s Chardonnay vines are nestled on east-facing lower slopes of the Sierra de Salinas range in what is one of the coolest, driest grape growing areas in California. During the growing season, warmer inland temperatures at the southern end of the Salinas Valley pull cooling morning and evening fogs into the vineyards. The afternoons, in contrast, are evenly warm and sunny. The absence of rain throughout the long growing season—harvest typically continues into November—and a pattern of brisk afternoon breezes keeps the grapes dry and pristine.
