Winemaker's Notes:

The Dominus 2009 exemplifies the finest qualities of Cabernet Sauvignon from an ideal vintage. The nose, at once powerful yet restrained, is dense and filled with pure dark berry fruit and hints of sandalwood. On the palate is a harmonious blend of fresh plum and focused minerality with tannins that are firm, round and elegant. Spherical in quality, this wine is complete from start to finish. A sublime vintage.

Blend: 86% Cabernet Sauvignon, 10% Cabernet Franc, and 4% Petit Verdot

Winemaker's Notes:

The 1994 vintage of this wine was ranked #9 on the Wine Spectator's Top 10 Wines of 1997

Caymus has long been one of the standard bearers for silky, yet powerful Napa Cabernet Sauvignon. In a great vintage, they can be spectacular, and the 2009 is one of the best vintages we've tasted since the legendary 2004. This brand new release has yet to be rated, but when it does, watch out – the scores are bound to be high. Wine Spectator rated the 2009 vintage for Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 94-97 points.

James Laube in Wine Spectator writes about the 2009 vintage, stating: "Napa's biggest money grape, Cabernet Sauvignon, enjoyed the same ideal growing conditions until October, when a pair of strong storms dumped enough rain to worry growers. Those who picked before the storms were excited about the young wine's color, flavor, acids and tannins. But those who waited out the deluge faced a mixed bag. One of the wineries that gambled was Caymus, which saw both sides of the coin.

Scarlet color and brackish edges. Nose is sweet fruit and smoked meats. This wine already has some bouquet- truffle mushrooms, vanilla style oak. The palate is creamy richness with nuances of leather and a cocoa-style fine grain tannin. The flavors and structure of this vintage are consistent with the Caymus style - spice, toast, cassis - fully rich, yet supple.

About Caymus:

As the Wagner family celebrated the 40th anniversary of Caymus Vineyards in 2012, they thought back to 1972 which Charlie Wagner, Lorna Belle Glos Wagner and their son, Chuck, built their winery among the vines planted on the family's ranch in Rutherford, California - the center of the Napa Valley. In 1975, the Wagners produced their first Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon, which remains the only wine to have twice been named Wine Spectator's "Wine of the Year" (1984 and 1990 vintage).

Winemaker's Notes:

Caymus Special Selection is the flagship wine of the Wagner family and is comprised of the very best barrels of the vintage. This wine is not produced in difficult years.

Opaque crimson color, intriguing nose of freshly tilled Napa vineyard soil. The presence of this wine includes fine textural components balanced by an array of flavors including; ripe cherry, dried rose petal, cacao, mocha and cassis. A seamless, rich and alluring, youthful Napa Cabernet. I find this vintage perfectly complex and balanced. This will go down in our books as a difficult year that yielded a small production of very fine wine.

Winemaker's Notes:

Dominus 2007 is a seamless "haute couture" estate wine with an intensely aromatic nose and perfectly elegant palate. Notes of ripe red cherries, fresh almonds, pomegranate and blond tobacco precede sweet tannins and a wonderful, bright finish with great length. It is youthful, noble and discreet.

The 2007 vintage is a blend of 94% Cabernet Sauvignon, 3% Cabernet Franc, and 3% Petit Verdot.

We recommend decanting the wine prior to serving, to allow it to develop its full potential. This is especially important when serving young Dominus wines.
