Winemaker's Notes:

Made from 100% Orange Muscat, Essentia has an aroma reminiscent of orange blossom and apricot. Its relatively high acidity makes it taste balanced, even with its considerable sweetness, more like a taste of fresh fruit. Essentia is used as a dessert accompaniment or a dessert in itself. Best served chilled. Pair with white fruits such as peach, pear or apricot.

About Quady Winery:

Andrew Quady started making wine in the mid 1970's. Working for a major wine company he moonlighted to produce his own ports and in 1980 experimented with Orange Muscat, ultimately making an amazing floral fruit character wine that he called Essensia. In 1990, Quady decided to produce a new type of dessert wine, light, delicate and very refreshing. He tasted Orange Muscat juice as it was turning into wine. When the juice was just on the verge - halfway between wine and grape juice, he bottled a test batch. The wine tasted wonderful, but the alcohol was only 4% (most wines are at least 11%). Using sterile filtration to prevent refermentation, he bottled it anyway and named the new creation Electra.

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2011 Eroica Riesling exhibits aromas and flavors of white peach, grapefruit and sweet lime with subtle mineral notes. The mouth-watering acidity is beautifully balanced by flavorful Washington Riesling fruit. After more than a decade, the winery has truly found the "Eroica style," striving for beautiful bright fruit with crisp acidity and enhanced mineralilty.
My Notes:

About Eroica:

Launched in 1999, Eroica is a labor of love for two of the world's great Riesling producers. One from the Old World, Dr. Loosen estate of Germany, and the other from the New World, Chateau Ste. Michelle of Washington state. An intermingling of Old and New World philosophies and technique enables the crafting of an extraordinary Riesling from Washington state grapes. Named for Beethoven's Third Symphony, Eroica reflects not only its variety and site, but also its heritage: bold and forward from its Washington roots, elegant and refined from German inspiration.

The first five vintages of Eroica Riesling (1999-2003) were named to Wine Spectator's "Top 100" list.

"I have long believed that a Riesling revival would have to start with a prominent New World winery like Chateau Ste. Michelle."
- Ernst Loosen, Dr. Loosen estate

Winemaker's Notes:

Moscato d'Asti is a unique wine where the beautiful aromas of the grapes are enhanced by a crisp, nice acidity, a light fizziness and the sweetness of the natural residual sugar. The low alcohol content makes it a very easy, pleasant wine perfect to finish a meal with dessert, or alone as a nice mid-day break.
My Notes:

Additional wines from Saracco:

About Saracco:

The Saracco winery is located in the picturesque village of Castiglione Tinella. Located in the heart of the Piedmont Region called the Langhe, which is famous for great wine and incredible cuisine. For four generations the Saracco family has been dedicated to growing the best Moscato d' Asti in the region.

Grapes were first cultivated in the hills surrounding Castiglione Tinella in the 1600s. Throughout history many different grape varieties were planted but Moscato d' Asti proved to be the perfect grape for this appellation. Luigi Saracco, the great grandfather of Paolo, began growing Moscato grapes in the early 1900s. With each generation the legacy and commitment to quality continues.

Paolo Saracco grew up in the vineyards and, even at an early age, had a desire to make a wine with the family name. Upon completion of his enological studies, Paolo began experimenting not only with new winemaking techniques, but also a more modern vineyard management style. The result has been consistent acclaim from the press, and more importantly, his loyal customers.

While some people say, "any port in a storm", we strongly suggest ours. Montevina Terra d'Oro Zinfandel Port displays aromas of raisined berry fruit, sugared dates, chocolate, caramel and orange peel. The wine's rich, lush, grapy flavors also evoke raisin, cocoa, coffee and toffee. This delicious, fortified wine is perfect onits own or as an accompaniment to chocolate, chocolate, chocolate...don't like chocolate? Try it with Stilton cheese and toasted walnuts.

Winemaker's Notes:

Enticing aromas that are strikingly similar to Viognier, lightly floral with hints of peach pit, honeydew rind, white pear, and tangerine. On the palate, it has beautiful structure and acidity similar to Sauvignon Blanc along with beguiling fruit flavors that keep you coming back for another sip and plenty of body for a wine that shows such delicate aromas and flavors. Fruity, floral and yet still quite dry, this wine has to be tasted to be believed.

Best enjoyed in its youth either by itself, or as a wonderful partner with smoked meats, mild to medium-strong cheeses, and seafood (especially sushi!). Keep one in the fridge at all times.

My Notes:

Additional wines from Crios de Susana Balbo:

About Crios de Susana Balbo:

After 22 years of winemaking, Susana Balbo has a strong sense of what she wants from her wines. From every harvest, she creates the grandest possible wines under her Susana Balbo label. To achieve this, she makes a rigorous selection of the finest barrels prior to making her final blends, dividing them into the parents (reserve level wines) and offspring or "crios."

Wines under her Crios label display ripe fruit flavors, excellent balance and concentration, and are meant to be enjoyed in their vibrant youth. These wines are produced under Dominio del Plata's code of sustainable agriculture.

Like Susana's own crios (a boy and a girl), they are extremely lovable and fun to be around. The label features a series of three connected and overlapping hands, an image inspired by a Mayan artifact. The artifact illustrates the interconnectedness of every generation, and the irony that we will be both the parent and the offspring at different times in our lives.

Winemaker's Notes:

Leave it to Alois Kracher and Jorge Ordonez and the help of red slate soils to pull all the fragrant qualities of the most fragrant Moscatel and keep it dry and snappy. Perfumed floral notes collide with heady citrus. With a round mouthfeel and a faint peach pit quality, this Malagan kept refreshing by a citrus quality that gives this wine a bracing zip to check all the scents.

About Bodegas Botani:

With the harvest of 2004, came the birth of the first bottles from our winery, located in the village of Almáchar, which lies nestled in the heart of the Axarquía region of Málaga. This mountainous region of steep slopes and slate soil near the Mediterranean is considered one of the oldest viticultural areas in Europe.

Ours is the first winery to be established in the local area, which is not surprising since the traditional use for Muscat Alexandria grape is in the production of raisins. Though, perhaps, the most innovative aspect of our winemaking proposal was to entrust the elaboration of our wines to world-renowned Austrian winemaker, Alois Kracher, who is undoubtedly the number one in Austrian sweet wines. In addition Gerhard Kracher, who succeeded his father in 2008, a group of entrepreneurs from Málaga participate in the winery together with one of the most prominent Spanish wine importers in the US, Jorge Ordóñez, at the helm of this most original project, and his sister Victoria who is the general manager of the winery.

Whispering Angel is a blend of Grenache, Rolle, Cinsault, Syrah, and Mourvedre grapes. Strikingly pale pink in color, the aromas are fresh and fruity. On the palate, it is bone dry through the finish. The name really suits the delicate nature of this wine.

If not simply drinking Whispering Angel on its own, pair it with lightly grilled steaks, salmon, other fish dishes and salads, as well as cheese. Fabulous with modern cuisine.

Additional wines from Chateau d'Esclans:

About Chateau d'Esclans:

Also enchanted by the Provence his father speaks of with emotion, Sacha Alexis Lichine, convinced by the potential of these sun-drenched soils, become the owner, with the Angostura group, of Chateau d'Esclans in 2006. Since then, he hasn't ceased to combine his talent and know-how to this magical terroir, and has given a new dimension to Provence Rose, making a unique assemblage of refinement and pleasure. A new chapter has begun in the world of Rose.

Patrick Leon has unparalleled experience in making among the great wines of the world. Leon served as a Managing Director for Baron Phillipe de Rothschild, overseeing technical departments including the company's vineyards and winemaking facilities for Chateau Mouton Rothschild, d'armailhac, Clerc Milon, le Petit Mouton, Aile d'Argent, Opus One in California, Almaviva in Chile, Domaine de Lambert & Barn' Arques in the Languedoc, Mouton Cadet in Bordeaux as well as other wines in the Baron Phillipe de Rothschild portfolio, including Escudo Rojo in Chile. Patrick's wide breadth of experience and knowledge has established the foundation to becoming a consulting oenologist and working with Sacha Lichine in this capacity. Towards that end, Patrick has been instrumental in overseeing the wine making for Chateau d’Esclans. Patrick Leon's guidance and his enduring counsel have made an immeasurable difference to making all the Lichine wines as great as they are.

Chateau d'Esclans is located on an exceptional site, on elevated land near the Gorges de Pennafort. The surrounding land around Chateau d'Esclans is known as La Vallee des Esclans (the valley of the clans).
