Winemaker's Notes:

Wind is a fact of life int he wide open landscape of eastern Washington state. Breezes blow throughout the seasons, moderating the sun's influence on, and adding character to ripening fruit in the vineyards. Our Sauvignon Blanc embodies that character with flavors of fresh melon and fig edge with crisp notes of citrus.

Enjoy with chicken, scallops or an icy plate of oysters.

Additional wines from Snoqualmie:

About Snoqualmie:

Snoqualmie Vineyards embodies the spirit of the Northwest in personality and in its approach to winemaking. Snoqualmie's honest, yet eclectic style is largely a reflection of winemaker Joy Andersen, at the helm since 1990. Under Joy's leadership, Snoqualmie’s reputation for crafting approachable, food-friendly wines has been recognized across the country by critics and consumers alike.

Snoqualmie has been producing classic varietal wines from Columbia Valley vineyards for over two decades. Snoqualmie's vineyards lie within three distinct growing regions of the Columbia Valley: Wahluke Slope, Yakima Valley and Horse Haven Hills. Each area produces grapes with flavors unique to the area, and Joy considers the individuality of each growing region one of her strongest winemaking tools.

Styled for easy drinking and as a complement to food, the Columbia Valley tier wines are as welcome on a picnic table as they are on a linen tablecloth.

Rosebud Vineyard, on the Wahluke Slope, one of the warmest areas in the state, was planted in 1981 and is one of the original vineyards for Snoqualmie wines. As of 1991 Snoqualmie has an exclusive contract with Rosebud Vineyards. It is the source for their single vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon.

Snoqualmie's reserve wines are made a barrel at a time using artisan winemaking techniques. Quantities are extremely limited.

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2009 Liberty School Cabernet Sauvignon offers up-front aromas of ripe red fruit, followed by similar vibrant and rich berry flavors. Silky but firm tannins lend excellent structure, while maintaining a soft approachability reflective of Paso Robles Cabernet Sauvignon. The wine has a ripe finish with good length. Its fruit-driven style lends ease to food-pairing.
My Notes:

Additional wines from Liberty School:

About Liberty School:

Varietally on target, reliable year after year, Liberty School Cabernet Sauvignon, Chardonnay and Cuvee consistently over-deliver value wines of outstanding quality. The Hope family has been making Liberty School Cabernet Sauvignon since 1990. In 1996, when the Hopes established Treana Winery, the Liberty School brand officially became part of Hope Family Wines. Liberty School wines are made in a traditional style. Fruit driven, they are crafted to reflect true varietal character. The wines are barrel-aged, employing very little new oak. Oak is used as a building component rather than a flavoring agent.

A big brand, made by a small, close family, Liberty School is the home of delicious wines that are easy to enjoy.

This versatile Zinfandel is especially suited to Mediterranean and spicy ethnic dishes as well as barbecued meats and hearty pastas.

Additional wines from Valley of the Moon Winery:

About Valley of the Moon Winery:

Valley of the Moon Winery encompasses both the rich history and the innovative spirit of California wine.

Situated in the Sonoma Valley on land first planted to grapes in 1863, Valley of the Moon Winery is housed in a beautifully restored stone and redwood winery built in 1887. Blessed with rich volcanic soils and a distinctive “banana belt” microclimate, the estate vineyard has been a revered source of grapes for well over a century. A block of “old vine” Zinfandel planted in the 1940s is complemented by more recent plantings of Barbera, Sangiovese and Petite Sirah; all farmed sustainably with natural soil amendments and natural pest controls.

Yet Valley of the Moon Winery is a thoroughly modern - even cutting-edge - producer. The state-of-the-art production facility features a full complement of temperature-controlled stainless steel fermenters, and small French and American oak barrels; ideal for Valley of the Moon’s artisan winemaking. In addition to making superb Sonoma County Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and Pinot Noir, Valley of the Moon Winery is a leader among California wineries in the production of several exciting up-and-coming wines: Syrah, Sangiovese, Pinot Blanc, Rosato di Sangiovese and Cuvée de la Luna, a proprietary Bordeaux-inspired blend. Sometimes hard to find, Valley of the Moon wines are definitely worth the search.

This crystal-clear, pale-straw-colored wine leads with aromas of freshly cut fig, zesty lime, tangerine, grapefruit, a hint of grass, white flowers, and green apple subtly uplifted by mineral notes. The palate speaks to Sauvignon Blanc's noble pedigree: lime, green papaya, passion fruit, grapefruit, and mineral notes with a clean finish that lightly suggests green tea. This wine pairs wonderfully well with barbecued oysters, prosciutto and salumi, fish tacos, and gumbo.
My Notes:

Additional wines from Simi:

About Simi:

In 1876, brothers Giuseppe and Pietro Simi began making wine in San Francisco from Sonoma County grapes and eventually planted vineyards near Healdsburg. Simi's historic stone cellars were built in 1890 and are still used to age the wines. Today, Simi is recognized as a leader in innovation and experimentation with a history of over 125 years of cutting-edge winemaking.

Their Alexander Valley vineyards possess some of the most diverse soils of any wine-growing region. Years of geologic activity – from an ancient mudflow to the meandering Russian River and Mayacama Creek – has created numerous distinct soil types and a range of microclimates. Here they grow the red Bordeaux varietals for their Reserve Cabernet and Sauvignon Blanc as well as Sauvignon Blanc and Semillon for their Sendal.

Their Russian River Goldfields vineyard is planted to field selections chosen from the oldest and best Chardonnay vineyards in California. The combination of diverse clones and the cool, Russian River Valley climate produce Simi’s distinct Reserve Chardonnay.

Simi's winemakers focus on site-specific winemaking and use the most modern advances in vineyard management, fermentation and blending to best express the personality and flavors of each vineyard site.

Los Vascos traces its roots to approximately 1750 and to the original vineyard of Miguel Echenique. The vineyard passed down through the family throughout the succeeding centuries.

The acquisition of 50% of Los Vascos by Rothschild (Lafite) in 1988 was the result of a careful search among more than one hundred Chilean wines for one that could meet their criteria for excellence. A team of winemakers from Domaine Barons de Rothschild (Lafite) control the viticulture, harvest, maceration, fermentation and aging of the wines at Los Vascos. Strict control of yields from the estate and adherence to the winemaking techniques of Chateau Lafite result in wines of high quality, whose characteristics do not escape connoisseurs. All production is estate bottled.

Additional wines from Tilia:

About Tilia:

Named after the Tilia (Linden) tree commonly found throughout Argentina’s wine country, Tilia wines possess true varietal character and embody the rural Mendozean lifestyle. For years vineyard workers have used the flowers of the Tilia to make an herbal tea for enjoyment after a hard day’s work. The name Tilia is chosen in honor of this wine country tradition.

The Tilia wines are made at Bodegas Esmeralda, a Catena family winery in the Eastern region of Mendoza that is dedicated to making value wines for the Argentine domestic market. Tilia wines offer a unique combination of fruit sourced from the traditional Eastern region and the dynamic Southern region of Mendoza. The Eastern region of Mendoza enjoys warm, sunny days and cool desert nights. The grapes have very ripe, rich fruit flavors and excellent mid-palate depth and concentration. Bright sunshine and low temperatures of the Southern region lend a cool freshness. The fruit from this area shows clean acid balance and soft, supple tannins.

Tilia is dedicated to responsible use of the environment. The winemaking and viticultural team actively engage in many practices and programs throughout the community to implement sustainability. Water conservation and reuse, minimal use of pesticides and organic fertilization are several examples of the team’s dedication. Furthermore, the entire Tilia viticultural team attends regular sustainability training sessions at the National University of Cuyo and National Agricultural Research Institute. They take this training into the field to share and implement with their grower partners.
