Winemaker's Notes:

This goal with the Columbia Valley Cabernet is to highlight concentrated Washington red fruit in an accessible style. This is our inviting Cab with plenty of complexity and structure with silky tannins. It's also very versatile with food--try it with beef, pork or pasta.

Additional wines from Chateau Ste. Michelle:

About Chateau Ste. Michelle:

Founded in 1934, Chateau Ste. Michelle is the oldest winery in Washington with some of the most mature vineyards in the Columbia Valley. The winery combines Old World winemaking with New World innovation and is best known for its award-winning Riesling, Chardonnay, Merlot and Cabernet Sauvignon.

Chateau Ste. Michelle receives some of the highest accolades in the industry, including "American Winery of the Year" by Wine Enthusiast for 2004 and "2005 Winery of the Year" by Restaurant Wine. In addition, the winery's Eroica Riesling, crafted from a partnership with German winemaker Ernst Loosen, has been named to Wine Spectator's prestigious "Top 100" wines list for five consecutive years.

Chateau Ste. Michelle is one of the few premium wineries in the world with two state-of-the-art wineries, one devoted to whites and another to reds. This dedicated approach to winemaking allows winemaker Bob Bertheau to build winemaking programs to the unique specifications of red and white wines. While all of Chateau Ste. Michelle's vineyards are located on the east side of the Cascade Mountains where the climate is dry and sunny, Bob Bertheau makes the award winning white wines in Woodinville, 15 miles northeast of Seattle. The winery's expansive, 87-acre estate hosts more than 250,000 visitors annually for tours, tastings, dinners and outdoor summer concerts.

A merlot and cabernet sauvignon blend.

My Notes:

Additional wines from Chateau Bonnet:

About Chateau Bonnet:

The vineyards of Chateau Bonnet were planted during the 16th century, by the Reynier family, wealthy merchants from Libourne. In a mere 30 years, the landscape around the house was transformed, as vines replaced forest on the surrounding slopes.

Château Bonnet lies to the North of the Entre-Deux-Mers, on the clay-chalk slopes of the commune of Grézillac, overlooking the Dordogne valley some 10km south of Saint Emilion. The estate dates back to the 17th century; when André Lurton took over in 1956, it comprised 30 hectares of vineyard, which he immediately undertook to renovate and develop.

Today, half Bonnet's production is devoted to a highly popular dry white (AOC Entre-Deux-Mers), a blend of Sauvignon, Sémillon and Muscadelle grapes, carefully vinified to preserve the freshness and bouquet of these varietals.

The other half is composed of classic red varietals - Merlots, Cabernet Francs and Cabernet Sauvignons - producing noteworthy clarets widely held to be superior to the general run of the appellation.

Winemaker's Notes:

Beautiful dark red color with hints of violet. The nose is already very intense, with dark fruit (blackberries) and garrigue combining with toasted notes. From the attack, notes of red fruit and the elegance of the tannins are immediately apparent. The palate then develops, with lots of roundness, to more complex notes of spices and garrigue.
My Notes:

Additional wines from Chateau d'Aussieres:

About Chateau d'Aussieres:

Château d'Aussières is located near Narbonne, in the Corbières in the microclimate of Fontfroide and Boutenac. Château d'Aussières has been since the Roman era, one of the great estates of the Languedoc. In the Middle Ages, it belonged to the celebrated Abbey of Fontfroide, its neighbor. With its exceptional location and terroir and by the force of its history, the Château d'Aussières is, a wild and natural property of intense and powerful beauty.

Acquired in 1999 by Domaines Barons de Rothschild (Lafite), the 550 hectare estate has undergone a vast rehabilitation programme. 167 hectares of vines have been replanted with carefully selected traditional Languedoc grape varieties: Syrah, Grenache, Mourvèdre and Carignan, complemented by Cabernet, Merlot and Chardonnay. The estate buildings were restored at the same time and a new winery installed in the old cellars, in the heart of the vineyard. State-of-the-art equipment and technology are seamlessly married to time-tested methods in the production of the wine.

As its namesake, this wine embodies the distinctive spirit of our vineyards, spanning the foothills of the Andes. Llama is a rich ruby-purple color, and boasts elegant flavors of black berries, ripe plum and robust spices with good balance and structure.
My Notes:

Additional wines from Belasco de Baquedano:

About Belasco de Baquedano:

Belasco de Baquedano is the Agrelo district of Lujan de Cuyo. The vineyards soar up to 3,346 feet, where the conditions are excellent to produce elegant yet powerful premium wines. Warm days are offset by cool nights with as much as a 45°F diurnal swing, which produces aroma and flavor, while holding acidity.

We have 222 acres of 100 year old Malbec from the original French clones and our viticultural methods are green, with irrigation fed by snow melt.

The wines are gravity driven table to tank, using délestage (submerged cap) tanks in fermenting red wine with skins and seeds for excellent fruit, soft tannins and deep color. Our wines are bottled unfiltered and unstabilized in the traditional artisan style to preserve subtle aromas and flavors, while promoting richness, body and color.

Winemaker's Notes:

The Chateau St Sulpice Bordeaux Rouge is a blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. This wine is vinified as if it were a "classified growth:" complete de-stemming, eight-day fermentation in new temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and aging in vats for several months before bottling. This approach emphasizes the natural red fruit characters. The wine exhibits black cherry, spice and plum notes, with great depth and balance.

The wine shows lots of red-fruit aromas. It is concentrated, full and dense in the mouth, with silky tannins and a supple finish.

McClellan Estate Vineyard adjoins the famous old blocks of Seven Hills Vineyard. This site at the southern edge of the Walla Walla Valley ripens Petit Verdot to an elegant flavor maturity. This rare 100% varietal offering projects a compelling aroma, mid-palate and finish. The wine is full-bodied and intense with potential for further development. Aromas of rose petal, pie cherry, red plum and an intriguing savory quality dominate the nose. The palate shows rich flavors of herb, black licorice, coffee bean and plum. A balanced tannic structure and lively acidity provide the perfect platform for these flavors and aromas. A very limited release.
My Notes:

Additional wines from Seven Hills Winery:

About Seven Hills Winery:

Seven Hills Winery was established in 1988 to vinify some of the nation's finest wine grapes: those grown in the Walla Walla Valley Appellation. In 1989 we moved to our current facility in Milton-Freewater, on the southern edge of the Appellation. Our winemaking process is a customized, hand-crafted approach that follows the grape from vineyard, through fermentation, aging and bottling, into the marketplace. Our central focus is dedication to providing a memorable wine drinking experience. Limited production may make our wine more difficult to find but always worth the search.

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2009 vintage was an excellent year for red wines in South Australia. Good rainfall was recorded during July and August 2008, proving invaluable as the following spring and early summer were extremely dry. A good rainfall in December was critical for the survival of the vineyards during the heat of late January and early February. The Shiraz vines weathered the heat well and were able to ripen in ideal conditions throughout February and March.

A deep crimson with violet hues, the Yalumba Y Series Shiraz Viognier 2009 has an exotic nose with crushed raspberries, violets and Turkish delight, complemented by cinnamon, tea smoke and nuances of allspice. Succulent and layered, the palate has flavours of raspberries and violets. Cocoa powder tannins balance the juiciness of the palate and enhance the lingering finish.
