Winemaker's Notes:

A blend of all the mountain appellations, Atlas Peak Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon demonstrates power and structure and shows firm tannins and explosive fruit flavors.
My Notes:

About Atlas Peak Winery:

Atlas Peak was established in 1987. Over time it became clear that Atlas Peak's most valuable hidden resource was literally underfoot: the elevation of its vineyards. The grapes growing at high elevation, and above the natural fog line, experience much lower daytime temperatures than those on the valley floor, allowing the grapes to stay cool while gaining maximum sun exposure. As a result, growers up on the mountain can afford to harvest later and pick for flavor with less worry about over ripening and excessive alcohol. No grape develops as well in mountain conditions as Cabernet Sauvignon.

Atlas Peak crafts Napa Valley mountain appellation Cabernet Sauvignon from such prestigious areas as Howell Mountain, Spring Mountain District and Mount Veeder, in addition to Atlas Peak. Atlas Peak’s Cabernet Sauvignon wines are driven by an appreciation of mountain-grown fruit and winemaking techniques that capture the distinct flavors derived from the mountain appellations in which they are grown.

Additional wines from Mitolo:

About Mitolo:

In a short period of time Mitolo has become recognized as one of the finest producers in McLaren Vale. Mitolo is a family owned business, started by and led by the founder and owner Frank Mitolo's vision to create a range of wines of individuality, integrity and utmost quality. Whether it is in the vineyard, or in the winery, or the work of the different coopers who source and shape the diverse barrels which are used at Mitolo, each wine is nurtured and developed with a zealous passion that spares no effort to ensure that the best of everything is brought together to make wines of purity, elegance and power.

Italian family roots inspired Frank's early interest and enthusiasm for good food and great wine. With three earlier generations of his family working as agriculturists and entrepreneurs, it is not surprising that (while heading an international horticultural business), Frank found the energy and passion to pursue his dream of creating world-class wines. The business was established in 1999 and a year later the first Mitolo wine was launched. It was called G.A.M.; named after Frank’s three children and the next generation of Mitolo’s, Gemma, Alexander and Marco.

Acclaimed winemaker Ben Glaetzer is a partner in the business and the combination of his winemaking skills and Frank’s vision have led Mitolo to international recognition and acclaim. What started out as a dream is becoming an exciting reality, and Mitolo Wines has only just begun on its journey.

As Santa Ynez Valley's first estate winery, Firestone helped pioneer viticulture in this quiet, rural area. The 2010 Cabernet Sauvignon is rich, dark and weighty with mocha, cola, berries, vanilla and spice.

Winemaker's Notes:

This wine has a dense purple ruby color with a mulberry hue. The aromas are both opulent and intense with blackcurrant, violets, rosemary and cedar playing a central role. The palate is awash with flavors of boysenberry, cassis, star anise and menthol. The structural tannins are supple and fine grained. Over-all, the wine displays excellent line and length of flavor. An outstanding, youthful, fresh and vibrant Coonawarra Cabernet Sauvignon from a tenanious vintage.

From the heart of South Australia, Jim Barry was a legendary and beloved Clare Valley identity. Since 1959, Jim Barry Wines reflect the Barry family's commitment to making table wines with an emphasis on quality and enjoyment. Winemaker's Notes:

The 2009 Estate Cabernet is a great example of the vintage and our site in the Santa Ynez Valley. The moderate temperatures and lack of rainfall coupled with our low-vigor soils and well-exposed terrain created a wine that is ripe, elegant and quite complex. The nose is generous with cassis, plum, vanilla, dusty spice, cedar, tobacco, clove and toffee. The palate is lush, juicy and balanced, with underlying tannins that add grip to the finish.

Michelle's vineyards are located on the east side of the Cascade Mountains where the climate is dry and sunny, Bob Bertheau makes the award winning white wines in Woodinville, 15 miles northeast of Seattle. The winery's expansive, 87-acre estate hosts more than 250,000 visitors annually for tours, tastings, dinners and outdoor summer concerts.

79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Petite Sirah, 5% Petit Verdot, 2.5% Merlot, 2.5% Syrah, 1%Cabernet Franc.

A particularly dense vintage, this wine is red-purple in color with a bright hue. Aromas of black currant, plum and black cherry are lifted by a bouquet of vanilla, toasted pastry and spice from a year of barrel aging. The palate is rife with primary fruit and a broad, rich tannin structure.

Highly complimentary to a wide range of foods. Pair with a rich lasagna, roasted lamb, or a London Broil.

The 2006 vintage Cabernet Sauvignon has 10% Merlot blended in to soften the tannins for palate feel and to add complexity. All grapes were harvested at their peak maturity. The wine was barrel aged in 50% new French oak from Treuil cooperage. The wine is deep garnet in color, varietally true to type in aroma, and well balanced on the palate.
