Winemaker's Notes:

This is our Classic "big furniture" Pinot Noir style derived from Lone Star Vineyard. Its melanite color is the first indicator of its boldness. The aroma is black cherry reduction fruit, black licorice, Earl Grey spices, and that luscious, fresh earth quality that says "Nuthouse". The flavors are big, juicy black cherry and black plum pudding spices. The texture forms a rich, creamy center to this richly ripe Pinot Noir. The ripe plum and cherry fruit carry on and on. It is a wonderful thing to experience such powerful, exotic Pinot Noir yet wonder at its bright, balanced, mineral pinpoint touch twirling on the palate.

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2010 Eroica Riesling exudes mandarin orange and sweet lime aromas and flavors with subtle mineral notes. The mouth-watering acidity is beautifully balanced by flavorful Washington Riesling fruit. After a more than a decade we have truly found our "Eroica style," striving for beautiful bright fruit with crisp acidity and enhanced mineralilty
My Notes:

Additional wines from Eroica:

About Eroica:

Launched in 1999, Eroica is a labor of love for two of the world's great Riesling producers. One from the Old World, Dr. Loosen estate of Germany, and the other from the New World, Chateau Ste. Michelle of Washington state. An intermingling of Old and New World philosophies and technique enables the crafting of an extraordinary Riesling from Washington state grapes. Named for Beethoven's Third Symphony, Eroica reflects not only its variety and site, but also its heritage: bold and forward from its Washington roots, elegant and refined from German inspiration.

The first five vintages of Eroica Riesling (1999-2003) were named to Wine Spectator's "Top 100" list.

"I have long believed that a Riesling revival would have to start with a prominent New World winery like Chateau Ste. Michelle."
- Ernst Loosen, Dr. Loosen estate

#6 Wine Spectator Top 100 of 2010

Fragrant with ripe raspberry and holiday spice, this ruby-hued pinot noir is bursting with Russian River Valley character. Its firmly structured, silky palate unfolds in a tightly-knit weave of Bing cherry and blackberry with hints of Darjeeling tea and cardamom. Subtle earthiness adds depth and is balanced by bright acidity that punctuates a lengthy finish. Alcohol 14.6%

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2008 vintage of this wine was ranked #6 on the Wine Spectator's Top 10 Wines of 2010

A deep, garnet hue provides a striking prelude to an aromatic symphony of black raspberry, vanilla and fresh-baked brioche. The palate, silky and well-balanced, weaves together freshpicked blackberry, dark red cherry and anise with floral notes. Plum and boysenberry harmonize with Darjeeling tea over the long, expressive finish supported by firm, round tannins.

2007 CASK Cabernet is a striking beauty. An exotic perfume of cassis, flowers, spice, and oak is followed by luscious flavors or red cherries, currants, and wildberries. the supple tannins and rich core of fruit let you indulge now; however, the impeccable structure will allow CASK to grow for many years to come. It is a classic representation of Rutherford Cabernet.

Additional wines from Inglenook:

About Inglenook:

In 1879, Finnish explorer and adventurer Gustave Niebaum searched the Napa Valley with the goal of establishing a wine estate to rival the finest chateau of France. For decades his wines won acclaim and remain some of the most admired in American wine history's classic period. By the mid-1960's, his property was divided, and estate-wine production ceased.

A decade later, Francis Ford Coppola purchased 1,500 acres of this historic property and revived Captain Niebaum's fine winemaking tradition. In 1995, Niebaum-Coppola acquired the remainder of the property and restored the Inglenook Estate to its original dimensions.

Winemaker's Notes:

Crisp, bright flavors have always been the hallmark of Adelsheim Pinot gris. In this 2009, you'll find hints of papaya, apples and pears. It pulls off the difficult feat of providing a gentle creaminess that lends a rich, mouthfilling texture and long finish, yet still impressing as a wine that's crisp and clean. Try it with mildly spicy foods (such as ceviche), not so mildly spicy Thai cuisine, rich fish entrees, and even classic oven-roasted fowl.

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2007 Proprietary Red is at once restrained yet complex. Composed and intensely focused, it exhibits layer after layer of blackberry, cassis, anise, sweet cocoa, black cherry, blackberry preserves, extract, tar and cola. On the palate it is dense and concentrated with great weight and structure. Each layer lingers on and on. This wine is exceptional now and will only open further with time.

Composition: 85% Cabernet Sauvignon, 7% Merlot, 4%, Cabernet Franc, 3% Petit Verdot, 1% Malbec

My Notes:

Additional wines from Pahlmeyer:

About Pahlmeyer:

Jayson Pahlmeyer has been producing highly sought-after wines since 1986. It began with Jayson's dream to make world-class Bordeaux-style wine from Napa Valley. Pahlmeyer's estate vineyard - Waters Rance - is situated at 2100 feet in the Atlas Peak appellation of Napa Valley. It is the key source for their Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Petit Verdot, Malbec and Chardonnay. Jayson's passion eventually led him to the Sonoma Coast, where less than seven miles and two ridges from the Pacific Ocean, he planted Wayfarer Farm, their key source for Pinot Noir.

Winemaker's Notes:

Etude Heirloom Pinot Noir, produced from several heirloom selections of Carneros Pinot Noir, is dedicated to the celebration and preservation of plant diversity. It is an example of the superior wines – unusually expressive, concentrated and pure – that issue from original varieties or clones offering unique genetic characteristics.

All the fruit in this Pinot Noir is grown on the Etude Estate Vineyards in Carneros and comes from shy-bearing selections with a marked tendency to produce small, irregularly shaped bunches and very small berries. Growers typically hold such vines in low regard due to their inability to produce consistent crops. This tenuous economic viability threatens their existence.

This Intriguing and expressive Pinot Noir opens with aromas of raspberry, violet, black tea and spice. The generous fruit flavors and vibrant acidity create a broad palate. The velvety tannins and wonderful oak integration carry through on the long finish, which is persistent with hints of orange zest and spice. This young wine will continue to evolve for several more years and promises exceptional complexity and age-worthiness.

My Notes:

Additional wines from Etude Wines:

About Etude Wines:

The underlying philosophy at Etude Wines is that winemaking begins in the vineyard, long before the grapes are harvested. Winemaker, Jon Priest, believes that superior grape growing diminishes the need for intervention by the winemaker and results in a wine that is grown, not made. Etude specializes in two classic red varieties: Pinot Noir and Cabernet Sauvignon. Though modeled on the best from Burgundy to Bordeaux, these wines speak clearly of their contemporary California origins, combining rich, ripe fruit with an elegant and opulent mouth feel.

The 1994 vintage of this wine was ranked #9 on the Wine Spectator's Top 10 Wines of 1997

Scarlet color and brackish edges. Nose is sweet fruit and smoked meats. This wine already has some bouquet- truffle mushrooms, vanilla style oak. The palate is creamy richness with nuances of leather and a cocoa-style fine grain tannin. The flavors and structure of this vintage are consistent with the Caymus style - spice, toast, cassis - fully rich, yet supple.

My Notes:

Additional wines from Caymus:

About Caymus:

As the Wagner family celebrated the 40th anniversary of Caymus Vineyards in 2012, they thought back to 1972 which Charlie Wagner, Lorna Belle Glos Wagner and their son, Chuck, built their winery among the vines planted on the family's ranch in Rutherford, California - the center of the Napa Valley. In 1975, the Wagners produced their first Special Selection Cabernet Sauvignon, which remains the only wine to have twice been named Wine Spectator's "Wine of the Year" (1984 and 1990 vintage).
