Winemaker's Notes:

A dark center with a garnet rim. The nose shows lots of Barossa chocolate, dark plum and hints of violet. It is a wine with good fruit complexity which draws upon the attributes of each variety in the blend: Shiraz gives richness and fruit, Merlot adds a textural softness and the Cabernet Sauvignon with its firm tannins reins in the fruit to give a wine of flavor, balance and structure.
My Notes:

Winemaker's Notes:

Intense red color with violet tones. Aromas of wild berry and dark plum with a hint of coffee. Berry and plum continue to the palate with smoke and vanilla joining through the persistent finish. Pairs well with red meat entrees, Beef Wellington, roasted leg of lamb, grilled vegetables, and semi-firm cheeses.
My Notes:

Additional wines from Antigal:

About Antigal:

Antigal Winery & Estates has four vineyards located in Mendoza; more specifically three in the Uco Valley of Tupungato: Las Lomas, Dona Angeles and La Dolores and Don Pedrin located in Russell-Maipu. The Vineyards in the Uco Valley are between 2000-3000 feet above sea level and are strategically positioned on different terroirs to maximize the expression of each varietal.

Our vineyards have great attributes: calcerous soils, very hot days and cool nights allow a slow and stable phenolic ripening of our grapes with a high concentration of aromas, colors and polyphenols.

A very attractive fruit bouquet yields apple, peach and citrus aromas along with a typical Veltliner spiciness and a touch of white pepper. The soft and juicy palate is supported by fine acidity. It sings on the palate!
My Notes:

Additional wines from Laurenz V:

About Laurenz V:

Laurenz V was created for white wine lovers everywhere. The winery focuses on a single wine variety--Grüner Veltliner--that has long been a favorite in its native Austria, where it represents nearly a third of the country's wine grape production. Grüner Veltliner has been quickly catching on in the rest of the world, too!

Laurenz V is made by the Lenz Moser family, and is the most recent offering in the family's five generations of wine making experience. The wine comes from the Kamptal and Kremstal areas of lower Austria where the warmth of the Danube Valley meets the cool air of the Waldviertel region. This combination develops fresh, fruity flavors in grapes while maintaining excellent acidity. The winery makes two wines—Laurenz V. Charming Grüner Veltliner from Kamptal, and Laurenz und Sophie Singing Grüner Veltliner, a wine inspired by Lenz' daughter Sophie, predominantly from Kremstal.

Winemaker's Notes:

It appears a deep, purple-edged ruby red, of impressive brilliance. Solid fruit notes of wild blackberry, blueberry, raspberry and dark cherry emerge initially on the nose, gradually yielding to more pungent impressions of sage, rosemary, vanilla, and cinnamon. That spiciness segues onto the palate, and then into a finish that ends with a flourish of balsam, black pepper, and cocoa powder. The mid-palate shows alcoholic warmth and roundedness, while the tannins and acidity are noticeable, adding to the wine's overall harmony.
My Notes:

Additional wines from Frescobaldi:

About Frescobaldi:

The Marchesi de' Frescobaldi is one of Italy's oldest wineries, with a history dating to the 1300s. The family has included medieval knights, bankers, lawyers and patrons of the arts. The Marchesi de' Frescobaldi is one of the most significant wine producers in Italy, with nine estates—and roughly 2,500 acres—in Tuscany. The family has been growing wine since the late 19th century, when they became the first in Tuscany to import and plant French vine cuttings. Because they have been producing wines for more than 700 years, to experience Frescobaldi is to glimpse the history of Florence, from the Middle Ages to the present day.

Wine Spectator has ranked many of their offerings in the 90s and their wines are consistently listed in the magazine's Top 100 Wines of the Year, encouraging wine enthusiasts from around the globe to become familiar with some of Italy's finest wines.

Winemaker's Notes:

The wine has a beautiful reddish/purple color as most good Malbecs do. The aromas are a mix of freshly crushed black cherries and toasty/smoky oak—just enough to frame the exuberant fruit. On the palate, the flavors of cherries and spice are obvious, and the jammy fruit quality just keeps coming on strong, with hints of spice and sandalwood lurking in the background. This is a wine that you'll want to buy by the case because it can be consumed at almost any occasion, whether at a fancy dinner party, or just curled up on the couch in front of a movie. Fun and delicious—what more can you ask for?!
My Notes:

Additional wines from Crios de Susana Balbo:

About Crios de Susana Balbo:

After 22 years of winemaking, Susana Balbo has a strong sense of what she wants from her wines. From every harvest, she creates the grandest possible wines under her Susana Balbo label. To achieve this, she makes a rigorous selection of the finest barrels prior to making her final blends, dividing them into the parents (reserve level wines) and offspring or "crios."

Wines under her Crios label display ripe fruit flavors, excellent balance and concentration, and are meant to be enjoyed in their vibrant youth. These wines are produced under Dominio del Plata's code of sustainable agriculture.

Like Susana's own crios (a boy and a girl), they are extremely lovable and fun to be around. The label features a series of three connected and overlapping hands, an image inspired by a Mayan artifact. The artifact illustrates the interconnectedness of every generation, and the irony that we will be both the parent and the offspring at different times in our lives.

A fragrant, floral nose with ripe peach aromas and a touch of rose and lychee. Fresh and smooth on the palate, with citrus fruit flavors, hints of minerals and a mild, pleasing acidity. A nicely balanced wine with a clean finish.
My Notes:

Additional wines from Trumpeter:

About Trumpeter:

Bodega La Rural was founded in 1885 by Don Felipe Rutini. From Italy, he brought with him his oenological degree and the vast experience he had acquired from his father's vineyards. The first vines were planted in Maipu, Mendoza and the winery was installed with French Oak barrels and the best in modern machinery. Under his work ethic, "Labor and Perseverance," four generations of the Rutini family continued his legacy. They brought together hard work and the most advanced technologies in viticulture in the search for excellence in oenology.

Today, the winery boasts stainless steel tanks, two pneumatic presses, imported crushers, vacuum pumps and filters, in addition to 500 new French Oak barrels. Over the last couple of years, the Trumpeter wines have soared to new heights in popularity in the United States. Offering four varietals: a Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, Chardonnay, and Malbec, Bodega La Rural has crafted new wines with attractive new labels that have created quite a stir in the media. These wines have received praise in many respected publications ranging from Wine Spectator and Wine & Spirits magazine to the Washington Post daily newspaper.

Winemaker's Notes:

Ruby red in color with violet towards the rim. Shows aromas of red fruit and light vanilla. Full red fruit with hints leather and spice on the palate. Medium-bodied with good acidity, soft tannins and medium oak on the lingering finish. Great southern Italian red for sipping, rich first courses, meat, or anything grilled.
My Notes:

Additional wines from Vesevo:

About Vesevo:

The Vesevo estate is the final and most poetic project of Valentino Sciotti (also of Caldora, and Feudi di San Marzano). The name Vesevo is meant to pay homage to Mount Vesuvio and the special microclimate of the area which is rich in minerals fundamental for growing fine grapes with a unique complexity. Vesevo's straight varietal bottlings of Campania's traditional Falanghina, Greco di Tufo, Fiano di Avellino, and Aglianico are some of the most expessive in the region, showing that great fruit concentration and floral nuance can live hand in hand with the region's structured mineral reputation.

Winemaker's Notes:

Ruby red with garnet reflections, intense and persistent fragrance, fruit (red fruit and prunes) with vanilla nuances. Medium-to-full bodied with a good balance and ready to drink. Great as a starter or paired with salami, savory first courses, meat in general and medium aged cheeses.
My Notes:

About Caldora:

Caldora is one of the largest cooperative wineries in the Abruzzo. Total holdings consist of around 1200 ha, but only the best 200 ha are selected, vinified, and bottled under the Caldora name. The majority of these plantings are located within the Ortona area in a microclimate that runs through a 25 km band between the Adriatic coast and the 3000m high Mount Maiella. The first bottling, with an updated winery facility coupled to an avant-garde vineyard management system, captured the essence of Caldora: maximum fruit expression in a top quality, reasonably priced wine that everyone can enjoy.

Winemaker's Notes:

Our Gewürztraminer is crafted from Washington grapes. The fruit from these two regions possesses different yet complimentary characteristics, producing a balanced, more expressive and complex wine. We often put the juice and the grape skins in contact to extract and unleash the exquisite Gewürztraminer aromas locked in the skin. The juice is then cold temperature fermented over 20 days. We do not use any oak and do not put the wine through malolactic fermentation.

The wine is crisp with a slight residual sugar of 1.7% with flavors of lychee, melon and tangerine. Our Gewürztraminer is an exceptional match with spicy Indian food, lemon chicken and blue cheeses.

My Notes:

Additional wines from Pacific Rim:

Additional wines from Georges Duboeuf:

About Georges Duboeuf:

For over 40 years Georges Duboeuf has been the Beaujolais region's most renowned négociant and is today regarded in the wine world as the "King of Beaujolais." Born in 1933 in Pouilly-Fuissé, the son of a winegrower, Georges began selling his family's wines from the back of his bicycle to now-legendary local chefs such as Paul Bocuse and Paul Blanc. In 1964, Georges realized his dream and founded his own company: Les Vins Georges Duboeuf.

Over the years, Georges has developed long-standing relationships with the region's top growers and winemakers. Georges is involved in every aspect of his enterprise and is known for his passion and his legendary palate. In 2003, the Duboeuf family opened a new, modern winery in Romanéche-Thorins. The following year, the Duboeuf and Deutsch families jointly purchased Château des Capitans in Juliénas. With annual sales of 30 million bottles, Georges Duboeuf is one of the world's best-known French brands.
