Winemaker's Notes:

Pale straw with green hues. A lifted nose showing aromas of passionfruit, blackcurrant, grapefruit and nettles with refreshing underlying mineral notes. Light bodied and refreshing with typical Marlborough flavors of gooseberry, blackcurrant and grapefruit. A pleasing mineral note leads to a long lingering finish.

Perfect for drinking immediately, this Sauvignon Blanc will be at its best over the next two years.

My Notes:

About Saint Clair:

The Saint Clair name originates from the vineyard property, first settled by the Sinclair family. Pioneer James Sinclair built one of the first homes in Blenheim and was closely associated with the early development of the town. Over time the name of the property reverted to the original Saint Clair.

Saint Clair Estate Wines is owned by Neal and Judy Ibbotson, pioneers of viticulture in Marlborough since 1978. Grapes were originally supplied to local wine companies; however, a desire to extend the quality achieved in the vineyard through to the finished wine led to the establishment of Saint Clair Estate Wines.

Saint Clair Estate Wine's success is founded on the 27 years of extensive pioneering viticulture, ongoing as a critical part of the highest quality winemaking practices. Neal and Judy's passion for their Marlborough vineyards and award-winning range of wines is continuing to build their growing reputation in New Zealand and in the 35 markets around the world to which they export.

The company's mission is to create world-class wines that exceed their customers' every expectation. To achieve this, Neal Ibbotson's viticultural expertise and Marlborough's unique climate and soils are combined with the proven experience of one of New Zealand's leading winemaking teams, led by Saint Clair's chief winemaker, Matt Thomson.

Winemaker's Notes:

A dark ruby garnet color and aromas of cherry, raspberry, black tea, baking spices and vanilla, all set the stage for this elegant wine. Black cherry, ripe raspberry, nutmeg and wetstone with well integrated oak are highlighted by the hallmark acidity found in fruit from this cold climate vineyard. A great balance of acid, tannin, weight and fleshy texture frames it all in nicely and makes for terrific aging potential.

Additional wines from Fess Parker:

About Fess Parker:

When Fess Parker was cast in the roll of Davy Crockett in the mid-1950's, it caused an international sensation and changed his life forever. So, too, did the purchase of 714 acres in the Santa Ynez Valley change the course of the Parker family's history.

Realizing the potential of Santa Barbara County as a premium grape-growing region, Fess and his son, Eli, originally set out in 1989 to plant a small vineyard and sell fruit to local producers. But, as Fess' daughter, Ashley explains, "Fess is from Texas, so he can't do anything small." The Fess Parker Winery and Vineyard now farms almost 700 acres on four vineyards throughout Santa Barbara County.

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2004 vintage of this wine was ranked #7 on the Wine Spectator's Top 10 Wines of 2007

Ornellaia 2008 represents one of the most classic expressions of the Bolgheri terroir. Fruit of a harvest that was low in quantity but high in concentration, its character reflects both the generous ripeness reached in the first ten days of September as well as the crisp, lively vibrancy encouraged by the cool, breezy days from mid-September through October. Its colour is remarkably intense and deep, while the nose offers stunningly rich, ripe fruit tones, alongside the classic balsamic and tobacco notes with hints of Mediterranean herbs. The palate exhibits immense depth, complex and dense, with tannins that are powerful, but fine-grained, velvety, and racy, giving Ornellaia 2008 a sensation of impressive solidity. A vintage with good aging potential.

Additional wines from Tenuta dell'Ornellaia:

About Tenuta dell'Ornellaia:

In 1981, Marchese Lodovico Antinori breathed new life into Tenuta dell' Ornellaia, an estate whose potential had been ignored for decades. With the help of Andre Tchelistcheff, the famous agronomist, Antinori planted the first French vines in Bolgheri, which lies in the heart of Tuscany's coastal region, Maremma. The estate yields some of the finest Sangiovese, Cabernet Sauvignon, Merlot, and Cabernet Franc in Tuscany. In 2002, Marchesi de' Frescobaldi and Robert Mondavi became owners of Tenuta dell'Ornellaia, which is now owned exclusively by Marchesi de' Frescobaldi.
