Winemaker's Notes:

Known for luscious Cabernet Sauvignons, this wine is a classic example of Geyser Peak Winery's intense, lively style. Forward fruit characters of black cherry and blackberry dominate the aromas, with underlying grace notes of dark chocolate and spice.

In typical Geyser Peak style, the bright fruit is nicely supported by a restrained oak character. The palate is rich, round and lush, seamlessly pairing the cherry and berry fruit with a hint of spice and vanilla. The fine-grained tannins meld into a persistent, lingering finish.

About Finca La Martina:

Casa Vinícola Reyter, originally called "Establecimiento Vitivinícola Antonio Giunta e Hijos" was founded in 1888 and it is one of the few located near the capital of Mendoza. With a production of a million and a half liters and set up more than 100 years ago, it has been recovered, remodeled and adapted in order to maintain the historical interest of its antiquity, transmitting that unique aroma those centenarian elements can produce, in a modern and technological environment that guarantees the quality of our products..

In 1992, under the management of the Spanish businessman Florencio Aldrey Iglesias, the winery got the name it has today: Casa Vincola Reyter. As part of a restructuring process, Reyter is reconditioning its buildings, improving its facilities and restoring its front, more than a 100 years old. It is also working to improve the quantity and quality of its production, and to adapt its buildings for visitors who wish to know about the institution’s activities.

Our winery is a unique place to enjoy the beauty of Mendoza through wine, art and our farm, with various fruit orchards surrounding the winery. Our grapes are organic, committing to the care and preservation of our environment. We do not use agricultural machinery, chemical fertilizers or pesticides, which are not authorized by the Reglamentacion Organica of Argentina. Malbec is the emblematic grape of the winery, brought over from France centuries earlier.

About Columbia Winery:

Columbia Winery was the first premium winery in Washington and the first in the state to produce vineyard-designate wines. Columbia Winery was founded in 1962 by ten friends, six of whom were University of Washington professors. Originally known as Associated Vintners, the group was united in the belief that vines could survive the harsh Washington winters and that fine wine could be made in Washington state.

Having worked alongside founding winemaker and Master of Wine, David Lake, Kerry Norton now oversees the Columbia Winery winemaking, handcrafting Riesling, Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon and Syrah sourced from the Columbia and Yakima Valleys.

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2009 growing season began with a dry spring followed by a temperate summer. The vintage had low yields but produced excellent grapes. The vines were harvested in September and early October, with ten percent of the harvest undergoing whole-berry fermentation in stainless steel tanks to preserve the fruity flavors of the grape. The wine was then aged in newer French oak barrels for 11 months. This vintage of our Pinot Noir serves up a delicious array of cherry and fresh fruit flavors, combined with spicy notes and smooth tannins that make for an exceptionally enjoyable wine.

Flavorful aromas of fresh raspberries and cherries followed by subtle notes of vanilla and cola; excellent acid balance with smooth tannins and a lingering finish. This refreshing, fruity Pinot Noir is wonderfully versatile on the table and can be served with a wide range of foods, including pork, chicken, lamb and salmon.

My Notes:

Additional wines from Kenwood Vineyards:

About Kenwood Vineyards:

Located in the heart of the Sonoma Valley, Kenwood Vineyards is dedicated to producing premium wines truly representative of Sonoma County’s world-class vineyards.

Kenwood Vineyards was established in 1970 in the former Pagani Brothers Winery, a historic cellar dating back to 1906. Thoroughly refurbished and modernized, the facility now boasts more than 125 stainless steel fermenting tanks and large oak uprights, and 20,000 small French and American oak barrels, all devoted to Kenwood Vineyards’ “small lot” style of winemaking.

In addition to the 22-acre vineyard surrounding the winery, Kenwood Vineyards sources grapes from dozens of vineyards – many farmed sustainably, using natural soil amendments and pest controls whenever possible rather than chemicals - in Sonoma County’s best appellations, including Russian River Valley, Alexander Valley, Dry Creek Valley, Sonoma Valley and Sonoma Mountain. Each lot from each vineyard is kept separate throughout the winemaking process, enabling the winemaker to bring it to its fullest potential. This “small lot” or “cuvee” style of winemaking also enables the winemaker to draw on an exceptionally broad “palette” to assemble wines that showcase classic character, subtle complexity and superb balance. As a result, every Kenwood Vineyards wine – whether Table Wine Series, Sonoma Series, Reserve, Jack London Vineyard or Artist Series – is consistent in quality and consistently delicious.

Additional wines from Valley of the Moon Winery:

About Valley of the Moon Winery:

Valley of the Moon Winery encompasses both the rich history and the innovative spirit of California wine.

Situated in the Sonoma Valley on land first planted to grapes in 1863, Valley of the Moon Winery is housed in a beautifully restored stone and redwood winery built in 1887. Blessed with rich volcanic soils and a distinctive “banana belt” microclimate, the estate vineyard has been a revered source of grapes for well over a century. A block of “old vine” Zinfandel planted in the 1940s is complemented by more recent plantings of Barbera, Sangiovese and Petite Sirah; all farmed sustainably with natural soil amendments and natural pest controls.

Yet Valley of the Moon Winery is a thoroughly modern - even cutting-edge - producer. The state-of-the-art production facility features a full complement of temperature-controlled stainless steel fermenters, and small French and American oak barrels; ideal for Valley of the Moon’s artisan winemaking. In addition to making superb Sonoma County Chardonnay, Cabernet Sauvignon, Zinfandel and Pinot Noir, Valley of the Moon Winery is a leader among California wineries in the production of several exciting up-and-coming wines: Syrah, Sangiovese, Pinot Blanc, Rosato di Sangiovese and Cuvée de la Luna, a proprietary Bordeaux-inspired blend. Sometimes hard to find, Valley of the Moon wines are definitely worth the search.

Winemaker's Notes:

The color is purple with a ruby hue. The nose gives aromas of red fruit, like strawberry and small ripe cherries; then evolves towards a spicier character. The palate is relatively large for this varietal with soft and silky tannins, giving warm, rich flavors of red fruit and gingerbread spiciness. The finish gives a long-lasting impression of lightly spiced cherry pie.
My Notes:

About Domaine du Clos Roussely:

Domaine du Clos Roussely welcomes you to Angé in the Loir-et-Cher. After returning from New World at age 25, Vincent created the domaine which was his childhood dream. On one side, 8 hectares of vineyard had been cultivated by his grandfather 20 years earlier, and another 15 hectares surrounding an old farmhouse. He works his vineyard by respecting the the natural biodiversity and harvests by hand. The wines are both festive and surprising. He can cite "Spirit of the Clos," a selection of Sauvignon vines 45 years, "Libertine" a delight from the over-ripe Sauvignon or "Anthology of the Clos," a subtle blend of Cabernet and Cot (Malbec).

Additional wines from  Pedroncelli Winery:

About  Pedroncelli Winery:

Pedroncelli Winery has come a long way since 1927, when John Pedroncelli, Sr. purchased vineyards and a small winery in Sonoma County's Dry Creek Valley. Today, the vineyards are planted to premium grape varieties, the winery is filled with modern equipment, and wines bearing the Pedroncelli name grace tables from coast to coast. But two elements from 70 years ago remain unchanged: the exceptional place the Pedroncelli family grows grapes, and the family's dedication to making fine wines.
