(search item no. 113420)
Wine Spectator rating: 90 points
PRICE ON 8/23/2014: $14.99

Winemaker's Notes:

Deep ruby/garnet red color. Concentrated nose, showing plum and berry character. On the palate full and round, with soft tannins and a long fruity, peppery finish. Paolo is a modern style winemaker, and his wines always have good dark colors, and elegant aromas.
My Notes:

Winemaker's Notes:

Pale yellow. Vibrant, sharply focused lemon, lime and quinine aromas reminded me of the Platonic gin and tonic. Clean, sharply focused and pure, offering energetic citrus and green apple flavors and a late note of anise. Very refreshing riesling, with excellent finishing lift and length.
My Notes:

About Rock Gully:

Rocky Gully wines are made from traditional varieties with an individual approach to winemaking. Developed for the modern lifestyle, the wines are vibrant, fresh, easy drinking and food friendly. Fruit for these wines is sourced from contract grape growers with vineyards in the Frankland River region. The choice of grape varieties in the Rocky Gully range reflects our belief in which varieties are best suited to the region and include a riesling, a shiraz and a blend of cabernet franc, merlot and cabernet sauvignon.

Winemaker's Notes:

Sandalwood, hazelnut, and powdered cocoa spicy aromas waft around a core of plum and dark stone fruit. Lively black plum and blueberry flavors transition seamlessly to a walnut, toasted almond finish. This elegantly balanced will continue to bring pleasure for years to come.
My Notes:

Additional wines from Conn Creek Winery:

About Conn Creek Winery:

Conn Creek was founded in 1973 and immediately established itself as one of Napa Valley's premier Cabernet houses with the release of its 1974 Eisele Vineyard Cabernet Sauvignon. The winery name comes from its location, next to Conn Creek near the Rutherford Crossroad that connects the Silverado Trail with Highway 29. Conn Creek specializes in limited production Bordeaux varietal wines exclusively from Napa Valley’s best vineyards. Present production remains at fewer than 6500 case per year.

Additional wines from Columbia Crest:

About Columbia Crest:

Founded in 1983, Columbia Crest has grown from a small winery in a relatively unknown wine region to one of the most significant wineries in the U.S. and a major force behind Washington state's emergence as a world-class wine region. Over the years, the winery has remained committed to delivery handcrafted, small-lot wines, as well as affordable, superior quality everyday wines. In 2009, the winery reached a milestone when Wine Spectator named their 2005 Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon "Wine of the Year," the first time a wine from Washington state has received the ranking. This accolade was not only a historic moment for Columbia Crest, but for all wineries in Washington and reinforced the belief that the region is among the best wine-producing areas in the world.

Winemaker's Notes:

Platinum, yellow-green hues, with lovely white stone fruits, hard Christmas candy, lemon zest, orange marmalade or sugared peel, spice, cherry preserves, and minerality on the nose. White peach, citrus, allspice, and mineral flavors continue on the palate, but with a huge, sweet, fruit-cocktail impression countered by great acidity. The wine speaks impressively of weight, balance, firmness, and richness.
My Notes:

Additional wines from Chehalem:

About Chehalem:

With two vineyards on either end of Chehalem Ridge and one in the Dundee Hills, Chehalem is dedicated to reflecting as purely as possible what the vineyard has produced. With minimal processing and without compromising great fruit, Chehalem wines promise good ageing but are very drinkable young. Production quantities of all Chehalem wines are limited, to assure ultimate winemaking control.
