Winemaker's Notes:
The grapes for Two Angels come from the renowned
Shannon Ridge Vineyards, extremely volcanic, red pumice
stone terroir. Hugging the mountain rims along the east edge
of the High Valley AVA at close to 2,200 feet (the highest
vineyards in California), the area is reminiscent of the Rhone
Valley's Crozes-Hermitage vineyards. All the grapes for this
wine came from a vineyard with a slope of 40 degrees. The
fruit was all hand-picked and hand-sorted before cold soaking
and a long, cool fermentation. The wine ages for ten months
using 25-percent new French oak.
The 2007 Two Angels Petite Sirah is "dark as the night" and
boasts savory aromas of ripe, dark berries (blackberry,
boysenberry and raspberry), violets, and ripe plum, with a hint
of roast game. Abundant fruit flavors in this well-structured
wine are nicely integrated with toasted oak and a touch of
black licorice. |
