Winemaker's Notes:

This Sauvignon Blanc presents a brilliant shade of pale yellow speared by youthful streaks of green. The vintage of 2011 provided generous grapefruit aromas coupled with green lime, kiwi and a subtle zest of caper. Flavors are rich with grapefruit, guava and a lemon zest citrus combination. The wine is rich, vibrant and generous, yet elegant with a terrific crisp finish.

Winemaker's Notes:

The McLaren Vale region is strongly maritime influenced, with considerable variation in climate between the hill slopes and the sea. The hills produce favorable seasonal rains while the coast brings ripening sunshine softened by cooling breezes.

Tintara fruit is 100% McLaren Vale and includes only the absolute best lots from both estate-owned and contracted vineyards. The vineyards are up to 70-years-old and provide the dense character and powerful dark fruit aromas found in the Tintara wines.

This wine is big, ripe and juicy with bold dark fruits, blueberries, spice and cedar, with nicely integrated fruit, oak and tannins, giving way to a delicious and full bodied finish.

"Plump, generous and beautifully supple, glowing with plum, blueberry and sweet spice aromas and flavors, with a touch of earth on the ever-so-slightly gamy finish. Spicy oak frames the long aftertaste. Best from 2007 through 2015."
-Wine Spectator

My Notes:

About Tintara:

Founded in 1862, Tintara remains a testament to quality winemaking, combining age-old methods with new-age technology. The first vines were planted by Dr Alexander Kelly, and in 1863 the first Tintara winery was established at "Upper Tintara". Built against the rolling hills that foot the Mount Lofty Ranges, its ingenious sloping design allowed the labor intensive work to be achieved with the assistance of gravity, which also meant gentler handling of the juice.

In 1878, the Tintara winery and its gravity flow techniques moved to the Old Mortlock Flour Mill in the heart of McLaren Vale, where it remains today. In fact, to this day they use the very same rare basket presses and original slate open fermenting tanks as used in the 19th century. Tintara is a rarity in every sense.

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2008 Footbolt shows off a brooding nose of dark red cherries, rhubarb and cardamon spices, with underlying earthiness. The generous palate is well-structured, with juicy blood plums and mulberries on the mid palate, rounded out by cinnamon spice from seasoned oak and balanced acidity to keep the ripe fruit in check. Firm, powdery tannins provide a memorable finish.

Additional wines from d'Arenberg:

About d'Arenberg:

One of the undisputed kings of Australian Shiraz and Rhone varietals, d'Arenberg has managed to turn individuality into an art form by doing a whole lot of little things differently. The original vineyards were established by Joseph Osborn in 1912 in the McLaren Vale region of South Australia. A century on, the estate has grown to 345 acres, and the mantle now rests with fourth-generation winemaker, Chester Osborn. By maintaining a focus on traditional winemaking and nurturing their old-vine material, the Osborn clan has successfully established themselves as one of the country's leading producers of concentrated wines that are full of character.

Grand Vin de Glenelly is the estate's signature red blend. It exhibits great intensity and complexity, with finegrained tannins that are firm yet elegant. The rich, savory character of Shiraz is enhanced by lush, concentrated flavors of blackberry, cherry and cassis, supported by floral tones and notes of tobacco and spice.

Additional wines from Glenelly:

About Glenelly:

Located on the southern slopes of the Simonsberg, Glenelly is owned by May-Eliane de Lencquesaing, Bordeaux doyenne and former owner of Château Pichon Longueville Comtesse de Lalande. Struck by the tremendous potential of South Africa's terroir and the beauty of the country, Mme de Lencquesaing decided to embark on a French adventure on African soil. She purchased Glenelly in 2003, and subsequently planted 66 of the property's 128 hectares to vineyards. The first estate-grown fruit came on line in 2007, and Glenelly's state-of-the-art winery building was completed in 2009. The wines are fermented naturally and made with as little intervention as possible, seeking to achieve the perfect balance of French style and South African terroir.

Winemaker's Notes:

The symmetrical 17th century Chateau de Reignac sits atop a gravelly plateau in the peninsular town of St. Loubes, but a stones throw away from the Gironde River. The 200 acre vineyard is planted on rolling hills in clay and gravel soil. Through pruning and green harvesting, yields were limited to just 35 hls/ha (2 ton/acre) The fruit was hand harvested in mid September, the fruit was table sorted twice, before and after destemming to eliminate any less than perfect grapes. The final blend is 75% Merlot, and 25% Cabernet Sauvignon.
My Notes:

About Château de Reignac:

Château de Reignac sits atop the highest point in the parish of Saint Loubes, overlooking a 135-hectare clay and gravel rise that includes a single 80-hectare block of vines.

The original château was built by Seigneur Baude de Peyron in the 16th century. It was remodeled in the 18th and 19th centuries. In the late 1800s, a central courtyard was added that features his signature wrought iron railings and in 1868, a remarkable greenhouse was designed by Gustave Eiffel.

The present owners, Yves and Stephanie Vatelot, purchased Reignac in 1990 and have worked continuously ever since to restore the estate to its former glory while introducing numerous innovations. The world-renowned Michel Rolland is their consulting oenologist.

"Reignac is the standard bearer for what can be achieved by a passionate proprietor who cuts yields to a minimum, and does everything right in the cellar. Reignac is the leading candidate for the finest generic Bordeaux produced year in and year out. It can compete favorably with classified growths..."

Winemaker's Notes:

The fruity floral signature of Chenin Blanc and the fragrant bouquet of Viognier make up this unique bottling. Pine Ridge was the first California winery to develop this original blend.

Floral and sweet on the nose, the 2007 Chenin Blanc-Viognier exhibits fragrant aromas of pear, lychee and melon, with a delicate touch of grapefruit, lime and mixed citrus. Bright, crisp flavors of lively citrus and pear are offered up along with a supple texture. The slightly off-dry finish is clean and crisp, marked with notes of red grapefruit. Enjoy now or cellar for two years.

"2007 Chenin Blanc/Viognier is a beauty, very perfumed (flowers, melons, tropical fruits), mediumbodied, super pure, with no oak and a dry, crisp finish. Drink it over the next year."
Robert Parker, The Wine Advocate

About Pine Ridge:

In 1978 , a remarkable vineyard took shape alongside a deep pine forest that climbs the western hillside of Napa Valley’s storied Stags Leap District. Year after year, the wines of Pine Ridge carry a sense of this place and its history. Each vintage reflects the distinct characteristics of the appellation and a focused commitment to refinement that reaches across the years, from the founding of the winery to today.

This vibrant wine offers a pleasing tropical nose of orange blossom, grapefruit, lychee and peach. On the palate the wine has a juicy, fruit-driven entry with lively acidity and flavors of guava, honeyed tangerine, juicy Comice pear, Kaffir lime and a mineral edge. The citrus notes mingle with sandalwood spice and linger on the energetic finish.

Pair this wine with mild Thai curries or shellfish pasta with shallot and white-wine broth.

Additional wines from Stag's Leap Wine Cellars:

About Stag's Leap Wine Cellars:

Considered one of the "first growths" of Napa Valley, Stag's Leap Wine Cellars produces renowned Cabernet Sauvignon from its historic Stags Leap District estate vineyards. Founded in 1970, the winery brought international recognition to California winemaking and the Napa Valley when the 1973 S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon won the now famout 1976 Paris Tasting, also known as the "Judgement of Paris." Stag's Leap Wine Cellars' three estate-grown Cabernet Sauvignons - CASK 23, S.L.V. and Fay - are among the most highly regarded and collected Cabernet Sauvignons worldwide. The wines are fashioned to express richness balanced by elegant restraint, an approach often described as "an iron fist in a velvet glove."

Winemaker's Notes:

This incredible Sauvignon Blanc displays the excellent cool climate characters of the vintage. At first swirl, vibrant lemon grass, citrus peel, and pineapple aromas leap from the glass. Several more minutes of airing display wonderful nuances of orange zest and delicate floral characters. On the palate, the wine is zesty and full of energy repeating the aromatic themes of lemon grass and lemon verbena along with underlying tropical fruit richness. The finish is full flavored and balanced ending with juicy, mouthwatering acidity.

Additional wines from Dry Creek Vineyard:

About Dry Creek Vineyard:

In 1972, when David S. Stare opened the doors to Dry Creek Vineyard, it was the first new winery to be built in the Valley since Prohibition. Dry Creek created the first Sonoma Fume Blanc, originated the Dry Creek Valley AVA, and was an early advocate for Bordeaux-style blending.

Today, Dry Creek Vineyard is committed to vineyard diversity, vinifying individual lots of fruit separately, and then blending carefully for each final cuvee. Dry Creek Vineyard is also a leader in the stewardship of pre-Prohibition Zinfandel vines and vineyards, and has isolated a clone, called the "Heritage Clone," which is bottled separately from their "Old Vines" Zinfandel (containing wine only from vines no younger than 50 years old), and which has made very promising wines.

Vivid tropical fruit aromas give way to succulent, mouth-filling flavors of guava, lychee, gooseberry, lime, and fresh cut grass, supported by a bracing jolt of acidity.

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2010 growing season was characterised by a cool slow start but a warm dry finish. This together with moderate cropping levels meant the vintage kicked off at a 'normal' time and the majority of our Sauvignon Blanc was harvested over a 2 week period between 29th March and 15th April. Nautilus Marlborough Sauvignon Blanc 2010 is pale straw in color and has a fragrant aroma showing goose- berry, black currant leaf, red capsicum and a hint of dried thyme. The palate reveals lime/grapefruit characters along with more tropical flavors such as melon and passionfruit. This wine has good mid palate concentration and a typically zingy finish.
My Notes:

About Nautilus Estate:

Ever since the first fine wine from Nautilus Estate of Marlborough was released in 1985, they have been striving to make wines that are truly synonymous with the best of New Zealand. Celebrated around the world for their intense fruit flavors and zingy freshness, Marlborough is the place that made New Zealand wines famous.
