Winemaker's Notes:

A saturated black ruby in the glass. Aromas suggest Provencal lavender, thyme and rosemary, with plums and black raspberries enlivened with a pinch of white pepper. The mouth delivers spiced cherries and plums, with hints of ginger and bass notes of dark chocolate. Deliciously complex—a winter warmer and a bottle that demands great food and great company. The bottle shape is a traditional Provencal style that the Cartier family has preserved; it looks great on the table. A blend of 42% Grenache, 23% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Syrah and 15% Carignan; all tank made. Long and full of flavor yet still very fresh—a sexy, very pleasurable rouge.

Winemaker's Notes:

The Chateau St Sulpice Bordeaux Rouge is a blend of 70% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc. This wine is vinified as if it were a "classified growth:" complete de-stemming, eight-day fermentation in new temperature-controlled stainless steel tanks and aging in vats for several months before bottling. This approach emphasizes the natural red fruit characters. The wine exhibits black cherry, spice and plum notes, with great depth and balance.

The 2009 St Sulpice is dominated by a nose of ripe red fruit followed by a rich, smooth fruit and a soft finish.

About Chateau Saint Sulpice:

Chateau Saint Sulpice, Bordeaux Rouge, is a 100 acre estate situated in a village of the same name in the northern section of Entre-Deux-Mers, just south of St. Emilion. The vineyard is planted with 70% Merlot and 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and 10% Cabernet Franc, and it enjoys a microclimate with an extra measure of warmth in early autumn. The winemaking is directed by owner Pierre Duberge and his son, Christophe, who take pride in producing a soft, fruity wine with a spicy aroma typical of the Merlot dominated reds of the "right bank".
