About Château Les Graves de Barrau:

The Château Les Graves de Barrau is part of an estate, 11 miles north of Bordeaux, that has been famous for centuries. Set high up on a south-facing plateau, the vineyard benefits from an exceptional position giving the grapes excellent ripeness.

The Musset family has been on this estate for several generations. Serge Musset took over in 1966. With all the savoir-faire of his ancestors, he grows the vines in the traditional way and makes his wine slowly and patiently.

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2009 Pinot Grigio is a light golden color. The nose is scented with grapefruit and pear, and on the palate orange fruits come to the forefront. Mango and orange zest are accented by notes of guava and a pronounced minerality. The wonderful acidity and full-bodied texture carry through a delicious lemony finish with hints of apricot.

Additional wines from Luna Vineyards:

About Luna Vineyards:

Luna Vineyards was founded in 1995 by George Vare and Mike Moone. Both Vare and Moone have been Presidents of major California wineries and important influences in the California wine industry since the mid-1960's.

The founders purchased the St. Andrews winery, located at the foot of the Silverado Trail in Napa Valley, and set out to produce Italian varietal wines - Pinot Grigio, Sangiovese and Merlot.

In 1996, after 20 years experience with other wineries, the last 13 at Newton Vineyards where he established himself in the forefront of Napa Valley winemakers, Winemaster John Kongsgaard joined Luna as Vice President and partner. John is particularly noted for his outstanding Merlots and spent seven years in collaboration with Michel Rolland from Bordeaux perfecting winemaking techniques in the Napa region.

With a passion for Italian wines combined with a desire to live slightly on the edge, John happily joined Luna. He was excited by the opportunity to travel to the "Old World" and learn how to adapt their traditional and new techniques for growing grapes and making wine from Sangiovese and Pinot Grigio.

Winemaker's Notes:

Light, lemon yellow color. Aromas are fresh and fruity with notes of pineapple, citrus and peaches, with soft notes of vanilla. Taste is complex, with good balance and fresh acidity, a mid-bodied wine with a long, sweet finish.

Ripe fruit bouquet, soft sharpness and freshness are the features of this variety that can be kept in casks. In Casillero del Diablo we have created an exclusive Chardonnay. Its grapes from the Casablanca Valley receive the fresh breezes from the South Pacific Ocean, while develop a mineral style obtained from the unique composition of its soils.

Great with fish, seafood and creamy pasta dishes.

Winemaker's Notes:

Conundrum is a true California wine, with grapes sourced from Napa, Monterey, Santa Barbara and Tulare counties. We often hear the phrase "exotic" when described. It's a fitting portrayal; there is no other wine quite like it.

This unique, non-traditional white wine blend was created to offer full-flavored fruit and enough complexity to match the creative dishes being offered by today's generation of chefs. Conundrum can be served with every course from appetizer to dessert and pairs beautifully with spicy foods and full-flavored Asian cuisine. The "conundrum," or puzzle, of this wine is in guessing which grapes make up the blend.

Conundrum is a true California wine, with grapes sourced from Napa, Monterey, Santa Barbara and Tulare counties. Winemaker Jon Bolta began to craft the style for Conundrum in 1988.

The twist cap closure protects the fine aromas and flavors of this distinctive blend, allowing the bottle to be easily re-closed and refrigerated. The airtight cap also eliminates the possibility of cork taint.

Conundrum is owned by the Wagner family of Caymus Vineyards, but stands on its own as a separate brand. The Conundrum winery in Monterey County is close to the sources for most of the grape varietals that make up the wine.
