Winemaker's Notes:

Deep ruby colored with a gorgeous nose. Attractive aromas of kirsch, raspberries, pepper and melted liquorice. Full flavored wine with a supple texture and no hard edges. Medium to full bodied, fruit driven sumptuously-textured and long aftertaste.. Pairing: Various roast dishes, Spanish stew, mushrooms and grilled meats. Blue fish, rice, short-and medium-cured cheeses.

About Las Rocas de San Alejandro:

Las Rocas de San Alejandro is located in the region of Calatayud, about 150 miles northeast of Madrid, and is centered around the rivers of Jiloca and Jalon. Although there are still few wineries in the zone, the ones which are beginning to show with their wines why this region is so special.

Although the D.O. is quite young, vines have been grown in the zone for some time. About one eighth of the vineyard land’s production has been bottled at one of Spain’s best and most progressive cooperatives, San Alejandro. With an abundance of amazing raw material, Eric Solomon was able to commission several bottlings of very old vine fruit into what has become one of the most sought-after estates in the portfolio. Calatayud benefits from a continental climate with vast temperature differences between night and day. Harvests are much later than in other parts of Aragon, and the acidity/maturity/alcohol ratios tend to be more balanced.

As most of the vineyards lie on what was (thousands of years ago) an old river basin, the soil is comprised of brown limestone and loam over slate and gypsum. This particular soil is also ideal for production of olives, cherries, and other fruits. Jean-Marc Lafage (of Domaine Lafage in France’s Roussillon) is responsible for the Las Rocas cuvees.

Winemaker's Notes:

The wine shows a deep ruby, almost purple color, with a spicy, rich cranberry bouquet. Its dark cherry flavors are highlighted by excellent structure and depth all supported by elegant oak. Round and full in the mouth, with supple tannins and a fruit-filled finish.

Black cherry and ripe plum aromas followed by eucalyptus and fresh herbs announce this earthy Pinot Noir. On the palate, you will find caramelized layers of Santa Rosa plum with youthful acidity leading to a perfectly balanced and dry finish.

Salmon, pork tenderloin and mushroom based pasta dishes would be a superb match with this flavorful Pinot Noir. For the cheese course, try Fontina or Manchego with dried fruit and almonds.

Winemaker's Notes:

The 2007 vintage was memorable in this area and this bottling shows the intense, generous black cherry fruit of Marimar Torres' best years, with hints of rose petals, clove, and peat from the elegant oak. On the palate it is rich and smooth, with silky mouthfeel and nicely integrated, supple yet firm tannins. It shows great aging potential but is drinking beautifully now.

This is a wine that displays more of the spicy, racy and mineral aspects of syrah with a strong savory component and less of that jammy fruit. There is a freshness on the palate that carries through the fi nish. This is certainly the most "Northern Rhone-ish" of any of our Central Coast bott lings. If you're expecting a fruit bomb, you won't fi nd it here!

About Damilano:

The origins of the Damilano family company dates back to over a century ago, when Guiseppe Borgogno, the great-grandfather of the current owners, started to grow and make wine from his own grapes. This tradition was kept up by Giacomo Damilano, the founder’s son-in-law, together with his children, until it was passed on to his 4 grandchildren, who very attentively manage their forefathers’ land today. The wines produced are renowned for their upright style and the estate is widely appreciated due to the strictness and passion that accompany all of the company's activities.

The vineyards, partly owned and partly leased, are situated in the most famous crus of the Langa region: Cannubi, Liste, Fossati, and Brunate, which are almost entirely cultivated with Nebbiolo da Barolo, and to a lesser extent, with Dolcetto and Barbera varietals.

With a deep and beautiful reddish-violet color, this wine faithfully represents the characteristics of the Carmenère variety. The nose presents fresh blueberry, maqui, black pepper, and roasted bell pepper aromas all harmoniously integrated with cedar, coffee, vanilla, and smoky notes obtained during barrel aging. Fresh and fruity on the palate, this wine is in balance with its spicy profile, where the oak treatment enhanced its complexity with sweet spices and cedar notes. This well-structured Carmenère with a broad palate and soft, sweet tannins finishes delicate and fresh.

About Arboleda:

Arboleda wines were born in 1999 as part of the shared dream that inspired Robert Mondavi and Eduardo Chadwick to realize the potential of Chile as a world class producer of fine wines. The name "Arboleda" in Spanish means "grove of trees" and is a tribute to the native Chilean trees that have been preserved within the vineyards that produce the Arboleda grapes.

The source of the Arboleda grapes comes from two self contained estates within the valley. A stunning hillside property some 40kms inland was acquired and planted in 2000 with a selection of red grape varieties. This property was named "Las Vertientes" due to its natural springs of water. Arboleda red wines aim for complete ripeness, full bodied with high concentration of fruit, complexity and balance.

Arboleda white wines aim to be fresh, crispy with high acidity and intense aromatics. Therefore the vineyards were planted during 2005 in the proximity to the sea, only 14 kms from the Pacific Ocean in a property called "Chilhue", the place of sea gulls in native Mapuche indian language.

About Elk Cove Vineyard:

Elk Cove Vineyards is one of Oregon's oldest and most respected wine producers. Founded in 1974 by Pat and Joe Campbell, their focus has always been to produce handcrafted, estate-grown wines that can rival the best in the world. Estate vineyards now cover over 250 acres on five separate sites in the Northern Willamette Valley. Steep south-facing slopes of Willakenzie, Laurelwood and now Jory soil types provide excellent drainage, which are the perfect environment to grow world-class wine grapes. About Poggio San Polo:

The vineyards at San Polo were planted between 1990 and 2000 with the goal of making the highest quality Brunello di Montalcino. With an altitude of 1350 feet above sea level, their southern facing vineyard receives optimal sun exposure and is the highest in Montalcino. The vineyard also has natural terraces facing the stunning Sant’ Antimo Valley and is entirely dedicated to Brunello di Montalcino.

In 2007, Marilisa Allegrini and Leonardo Locascio purchased the property, and with together with winemaker Nicola Biasi adhere to meticulous vineyard management, including environmentally sound and sustainable agriculture, and extremely low-yield crop management (approximately 2 tons per acre). The vines are traditionally trained according to the spurred cordon method, with south/south-east exposure. After being harvested, the grapes receive a long maceration in stainless steel at controlled temperatures (82-86° F) and are then immediately transferred to French barriques (10 months for the Rosso, 18 months for the Mezzopane, and 24 months for the Brunello).
