(search item no. 106624)

PRICE ON 12/22/2014: $11.99

Winemaker's Notes:

During the 1970s, Elvis Presley, the King of Rock 'N' Roll, rocked Las Vegas with a series of extravagant, electrifying concerts. Similarly, The King of Rock 'N' Roll Cabernet Sauvignon dazzles with bold, flashy aromas and beautifully choreographed black cherry, currant and dark chocolate flavors.

This Cabernet Sauvignon has aromas of black cherry, plums, and black peppercorns. The dark dense structure serves up flavors of currant and clove, with bold tannins and a generous finish.

This full bodied wine is the ideal complement to steak, lamb, cheddar cheese and dark chocolate.

Blend: 79% Cabernet Sauvignon, 21% Petite Sirah

Winemaker's Notes:

Deep ruby purple with hints of crimson, this wine displays lifted aromas of blackberries and plums with suggestions of cedar and violets. The palate is elegantly structured with layers of red berry fruits, anise and fruit pastille. A silky texture and sweetness is supported with typical Cabernet structure which provides a soft tannin finish. Synergy and elegance.

About Oxford Landing:

Oxford Landing isn't some invented name on a wine label. It's a real place, a real vineyard, that lies alongside the River Murray near the South Australian river town of Waikerie. Wyndham Hill Smith found this place in 1958 and Yalumba purchased the block naming it Oxford Landing after a nearby site where drovers once grazed and watered sheep on the long journey to Adelaide from northern pastoral properties.

Today, Oxford Landing has matured into one of Australia's most innovative viticultural enterprises delivering varietal flavor through a collection of value priced varietal wines.

Winemaker's Notes:

Well balanced, with a rich nose of cherry and plum, followed by hints of chocolate and vanilla. The palate is flavorful, showing rhubarb and pomegranate with oak overtones, followed by hints of sweet tobacco on the finish.

Pair with beef tri-tip or rosemary-rubbed filet mignon.

Additional wines from Concannon:

About Concannon:

A historic and once-famous Livermore winery, Concannon was bought and sold several times in the 1980's by large conglomerates that were purchasing each other. Each sale resulted in a loss of focus, and the brand suffered. In 1992 Eric Wente of Wente Vineyards saved it from the jaws of destruction by assembling a group of eight investors to buy the winery. However, Concannon Vineyard is a totally separate company in both ownership and operation from Wente Vineyards.

Nestled amidst the vineyards and rolling hills along the Livermore Valley, Concannon has been widely recognized for crafting full-flavored, complex and award-winning wines. Ocean air pours through the Golden Gate each afternoon cooling the influence of the sun, and enabling the grapes to develop both the ripe sugars and firm acids that fine wine demands.

Concannon is perfectly positioned geologically, atop a 600-foot-deep bed of gravelly soil. These rocks require the vines to drive their roots deep into mineral-rich deposits, and it also keeps the grape and cluster size in moderation.

More than 140 of Concannon's 200 Livermore estate acres are Petite Sirah plantings grafted onto improved rootstocks. Over the decades, they have carefully tuned their planting and trellising to take full advantage of the unique terroir. The result: intensely flavored, memorable wines vintage after vintage.
