Winemaker's Notes:

Our Angeline Pinot Noir is produced from fruit that abounds with intense fruit and rich aromas. By "cold soaking" the crushed grapes and fermenting at moderate temperatures, bright fruit flavors are extracted from the grape, without harsh tannins. This Pinot Noir is aged in French oak barrels for ten months and has a red, dark brick color with intense aromas of black cherry highlighted by earthy clay and sweet spice. Fresh, ripe flavors of cranberry and dried red cherries with a soft berry mouth and a light finish.

Try our Angeline Pinot Noir with Portobello mushroom burgers or a lightly seared salmon fillet or pasta with a tomato-based sauce.

My Notes:

Additional wines from Angeline:

About Angeline:

Courtney Benham acquired the historic Martini & Prati winery in July 2003, which is now Martin Ray Winery and the home of our Tasting Room. The Tasting Room structure, dating back to the 1900's, used to serve as a stable and bunkhouse where Italian immigrants stayed during harvest and crush. The winery also houses a 1 million gallon production facility.

Established in 1881 as the Twin Fir Winery, the historic site is distinguished as the oldest winery in continuous operation in Sonoma County and one of the oldest wineries in California. The winery was able to stay in operation during prohibition by selling sacramental wines by train to Rabbis through a winery in New York. Originally known as Martini & Prati, which was established in 1902, the winery was run by five generations of the Martini family.

Thirty 11,000 gallon old-growth redwood tanks dating back to 1904 are still used at the winery and can be viewed during our winery tour.We primarily use French oak barrels due to its superb quality and oak accents that give the wines vanilla, spice and often herbaceous aromas and flavor. We use most of our barrels for 5 to 6 years, depending upon the percentages of new, neutral and old wood we want to use on a particular wine. Beginning a new era for Martin Ray Winery at this historic site in the Russian River Valley has given us the opportunity to create a home for the Martin Ray and Angeline wines in a very unique and inviting setting. Visit us soon to experience Martin Ray Winery first-hand!

Aged in oak barrels for 12 months, this vibrant red is smooth and beautifully balanced, with fine tannins and a lingering finish.

Additional wines from Cavit:

About Cavit:

Founded in 1957, Cavit has earned an international reputation as an innovative leader in Trentino winemaking. Today it is responsible for approximately 70% of this northern Italian province's entire wine production.

The company is based on a partnership between 5,000 member growers, organized into 14 associated cellars located throughout Trentino in zones noted for the quality of their production. Grapes are crushed and vinified at each cellar and after selection sent to Cavit's central winery near Trento for finishing, bottling and aging.

Cavit is a capital example of cooperation and size on a human scale. Trentino winemaking families are able to tap into a pool of resources and attain levels of quality that might otherwise lie beyond their reach.

Strength in numbers has also enabled Cavit to develop its own showcase hospitality and research center (which works closely with Italy's most prestigious school of viticultural research at nearby San Michele all'Adige), at the beautiful Maso Torresella, a former archbishop's castle on the shores of Lake Toblino.

The rewards of cooperation between Cavit's growers are apparent at every level, not least among consumers, for whom Cavit produces consistently high quality, affordably priced premium wines that have captured literally hundreds of awards and medals to date and are in demand in over 20 countries worldwide.

My Notes:

About Bodegas Alejandro Fernandez:

Alejandro Fernández personites the mercurial 20th-century Spanish experience. A family breadwinner from the age of thirteen, he went on to learn several trades, beginning as a master carpenter. After military service he worked selling agricultural machinery but soon came to manufacture equipment of his own design, attaining national success with a revolutionary beet harvester. During all these years Alejandro harvested and made wine yearly from his own vineyards, nurturing a lifelong dream of establishing a bodega for the production of great red wines, following the traditions of his ancestors dating to Roman and Visigothic times.

Wines produced by Alejandro Fernández are made exclusively from the dificult, quick-maturing Tempranillo variety, of which he is the acknowledged master. His world-famous Tinto Pesquera is aged a minimum of 18 months in oak, with selected Reservas and Grandes Reservas remaining in barrel for 24 months and longer.

About Robert Mondavi Winery:

For more than 40 years, Robert Mondavi Winery has been the symbol of Napa Valley. Winemaker's Notes:

An elegant wine from Ribera del Duero. Made by gravity, it exhibits purity and balance. This is a low production wine: only 3,000 cases are made for the world. Juan Carlos Vizcarra is one of the pioneers of "garage winemaking" in Ribera. All grapes are organically grown.
My Notes:

About Bodegas Vizcarra:

Bodegas Vizcarra Ramos was founded by Juan Carlos Vizcarra in 1991. They own 64 acres (26 hectares) of vineyards in the town of Mambrilla and Roa in Burgos.

What makes Vizcarra wines unique? For one, Juan Carlos Vizcarra's passion, determination and commitment are evident in these very elegant and complex wines. He is also one of a handful of genuine pioneer "garagistes" (small production winemaking) in the Ribera del Duero. Juan Carlos' Commitment to small production wines and gravity feed vinification results in genuine wines of purity and balance.

The 2007 vintage of this wine was ranked #31 on the Wine Spectator's Top 100 of 2011

This Chianti Classico Riserva is ruby red tending towards garnet. The bouquet is rich, intense and complex with notes of black cherry and spice. On the palate, it is full-bodied with rich red berry fruit flavors complimenting a backbone of tannin.

My Notes:

About Castello di Monsanto:

In 1961 Fabrizio Bianchi, a successful textile manufacturer from Milan, purchased Castello di Monsanto and, in so doing, realized a long-held dream. Captivated by the beauty of Tuscany and convinced of the property's winemaking potential, Bianchi undertook the complete restoration of the vineyards and winery, while his wife, Giuliana, oversaw the restoration of the villa. Bianchi has relentlessly pursued the highest standards of quality, with particular emphasis on grape selection, natural vinification and a judicious use of technology.

The Louis M. Martini 2010 Sonoma County Cabernet Sauvignon was crafted from several of the county's most prestigious appellations in the Alexander Valley and the Dry Creek Valley. The Cabernet Sauvignon grapes were blended seamlessly to bring together the unique characteristics of each vineyard, creating a superbly balanced Cabernet Sauvignon. This wine has fresh red plum and blackberry jam aromas and flavors that are supported by caramelized and toasted oak notes. The round, full mouthfeel has just enough structure to lead into a fruit-focused finish.
